The highlights of New Zealand's game against the UAE (or an excuse to show Ben Sigmund's remarkably nasty foul...)
I like the way that he semi-protests to the ref. What a pillock. Michael Owen's had a dig at some of the England players, talking up his ****ty mates and calling the youngsters "overhyped". Well, I guess he'd know all about that. No balance to the side, the same two pillocks picked that have never worked together, an attacking line-up playing defensively and a held back non-story about a player who then played ****e. Same old England. Result was pretty much what Hodgson wanted, though.
I think we should stick with Walker for the Norwich game and give Naughton 90 minutes in his natural position in the Europa. He's looked decent there whenever he's started in that role, as far as I can remember, so it might do Walker some good if his position's under threat. I have a horrible feeling that we'll end up with Walker starting both games and Naughton playing on the left in the week, though.
Remember all of the times that he did this for us? No, me neither! I'd love to see him make a return to form. Hope this helps him through a bit.
Gylfi has also helped put Iceland into playoff position with two games to go. Not too shabby for a nation of 320,000 with horrible weather for much of the football season. The schedule is friendly as well. They're home to Cyprus, the Group E doormat, and if they win, they can hope that leaders Switzerland beat 3rd place Slovenia at home in the last game, and Slovenia wins the game they host against Norway the game before that. If so, Iceland won't need a result in their last game away to Norway to get into the playoffs.
Lennon also track's back to help the full back out,he would have given Walker a big helping hand last night
Walcott is picked always in the hope that he can produce his very best form, but he only manages it one game in 10 (if you're lucky) and usually against opposition who give him time and space where he can exploit his skils. Top international teams don't do that. Even the second tier ones like Ukraine and technically sound, well organised and defend deep. But I'm not sure Lennon or anyone else would do any better because England don't have enough guile and craft in midfield to bring wide players into the game. All England players seem able to do is work hard for 90 mins, hope to cause problems at set pieces and occasionally rely on one of big name players producing something out of the ordinary. They never look threatening against the top teams.
Walcotts still living off his hat-trick, has done pretty much **** all since for club or country other than a spell I recall when used as a centre forward and got half a dozen good goals...ignored by all since . I also cannot understand using Hobbit, after the game Roy said he withdrew him because he looked tired because he wasn't match fit....why pick him??? How much better with Carrick, Cleverley and Barkley it would have been is debateable, but at least they're fit, and whatever combo, it could not have done worse! Considering the pair of them have been coached by one of the masters of the passing game, their passing last night was diabolical.
He could do worse than consider Huddlestone, especially now he is getting regular games. The slower pace and need for great passing would suit Tom down to the ground (where it should be). I have long thought Thudd and Wilshere (when fit) would be an ideal centre midfield partnership, with Gerrard or Lampard alongside for goal threat, but being replaced by possibly Barkely in time.
No, not interested, numbers do not change whats in front of my eyes when I've watched them both. For example, the assists mean Walcott got the last touch before the goalscorer, considering Walcott gets in the box more, perfectly logical. Lennon is a winger primarily, so provides crosses, goals that come via a second touch from his cross will not be credited to him....sorry that your argument now resembles the titanic ....btw, I mentioned a run of good goals, and I get your understandable bias.
Me neither, without their pace, distinctly average. The pace factor means they get themselves into good positions more often, with neither particularly consistant with their final ball be it a shot, pass, or cross, its just a numbers game after that, that eventually one effort will produce.
