I've got to say that that was about as negative as it gets for English football. Also, why the hell did we get rid of McClaren? No one is going to convince me that he would not have picked that exact same squad. Dull and extremely boring to watch. I'm sorry, but the case for international football was not advanced tonight; that was not entertaining.
I should imagine after that after abysmal performance from Walker that Talksponk will still give Johnson an awful personal rating.
the BBC live feed has been walker bashing all night. Oddly enough a gooner fan defended him via Twitter.
Why, if we qualify for the World Cup it would be just like the goons qualifying for the CL, no chance of winning it.
Not sure what your point is. Of course we don't have a chance of winning the tournament, but the first stage of Roy's mission, is to qualify, and as underwhelming as tonight was, it remains a good result and puts us in the driving seat. That's all I was trying to say.
Not when you play so poorly across the pitch and only get a point by the skin of your teeth. Normally I wouldn't mind going into the last two games with 2 home wins needed against Montonegro and Poland but we're not very convincing at the moment so I don't think we have much to smile about yet.
Still, there's always someone worse off than you...the bloke who has to compile highlights for the late show.
Someone on the BBC Live feed made the point that the only two teams we've beaten in these qualifiers so far are San Marino and Moldova, having only drawn against Montenegro and Poland. Well, we've got to beat both those sides in order to ensure that we qualify, and on tonight's performance, I'm not sure we can be at all confident. For me, it isn't just about "nicking a point" or whatever other bollocks these pundits talk. The fact remains that with every game we play there is evidence all over the park as to why we are not good enough to win these tournaments, and absolutely nothing seems to have changed since the days of Sven. If anything, we have gone backwards. I was against Hodgson's appointment, because I saw him as nothing more than the "the safe pair of hands" appointed by a bunch of old codgers from the lofty heights of their ivory tower at the FA. These people are about as far removed from understanding the mindset of the ordinary fan as it is possible to get. Greg Dyke said we can win the World Cup in 2022. If no one knew it before now, there can be absolutely no mistaking the fact that he was talking out of his arse. Sound-bites and rousing rally-calls are all well and good, but unless they are grounded in at least an inch of reality and pragmatism, they merely come across as patronising and pathetic.
Have you noticed that England internationals are the one thing Sky haven't outbid ITV (and everybody else for)? I wonder why. They're not daft at Sky.
Lloris made a couple of big **** ups, as France had to come from behind twice to beat Belarus 4-2. I've got to say that neither Walnut nor Wilshere should be allowed near an England shirt. They are both utterly dire, and have been for some while. And I'm not saying that to be controversial.
Some great talking points already. Neymar playing jumpers for goal posts stuff, dancing around players and wanting the ball at every opportunity. Maicon trying to head the ball back to Cesar only for Meireles to steal in and score. Bernard diving terribly in the box causing Bruno Alves to inadvertantly stamp on his balls Thiago Silva just equalised from a Neymar corner. All this in under 10 minutes of watching! No Ronaldo though which is a shame.
Neymar now being a total sissy about being caught by a deliberate, though soft, Bruno Alves forearm. Shame. Got the ice packs on. EDIT: And then predictably a minute later Neymar scores a great goal. This game is ridiculous.
