Expectations have sunk so low that now getting out of the group stage will be seen as a major achievement.

It would be nice if England could still have a chance of progressing by the time we kick off in our third group game. Even that would be an improvement on last time, but it will probably mean Southgate keeps the job for another four years.

Changing the subject somewhat (but still on the theme of International football)
I Don't think we should be going to Qatar in 2022.

Not sure how many slave labourers have been killed so far building the stadia, but I'm fairly sure the death toll is into three figures already if not four. If hundreds of construction workers died in preparation for a World Cup tournament in England or most countries, there would be loud and universal condemnation of such an appalling and unacceptable situation. But for some reason it's OK in the Middle East.

In my view, any England player taking part in Qatar 2022 will have the blood of those slave workers on his hands.

Yep, if we are drawn in moscow or St Petes.
No, if it involves travelling across thousands of miles to watch the group games.

Getting there and backis affordable. Travelling across it can be v. Expensive and potentially risky.
Their ultras will be waiting to pick off travellers in small groups and I cant see much help being availaable from the old billov,

The Don loves a single malt too, so that's at least 3 of us who like a Scotch. I hope the England fans like a Vodka:emoticon-0119-puke:.

The Scots can’t havd it both ways.

A “nation” that culturally defines itself by detesting anything its bigger Southern brother does.

They (Scotland) currently have a very, very bad side and won’t be missed for one min in Russia :emoticon-0136-giggl

WGS's excuse about Scotland being genetically behind is disappointing. This must be why he doesn't play the more skilful players like Snodgrass, Fraser or Adams. There seem to be a lot of people who want him to stay, but if he genuinely believes that we can't win because we're too small he should pack it in. Coming from a small but skillful ex-player like him it sounds stupid.

Has to go. Things improved slightly but there are a few exciting youngsters coming through and they’ll need someone who isn’t afraid to play them.

I can’t stand Leigh Griffiths - wiped his nose on the Rangers corner flag recently- possibly the ugliest footballer in the history of civilisation from an equally ugly and odious club side with even more ugly and odious supporters.

Strachan should call up Tony Watt.

The Belgian 2nd division, where Watt is temporarily employed by his 9th club, is a better standard than the SPL.

I wouldn’t let any player with a tattoo or a pair of headphones play for England.
