You’d hope so, but if memory serves Everton paid up front so doubt they’d have done that + a clause. I hope the rumors of him going to Spurs are correct, Poch is the man for him.
It doesn't help that none of the top clubs will hire a British manager any more. They will look abroad every time. How are managers like Dyche or Howe supposed to reach the top of the tree? If their clubs threaten to break into the top cartel their best players will simply be hoovered up by the Big Boys.
It doesn’t help that a manager at least 10 years past his sell by date is bed blocking one of the big English jobs at Arsenal. Herr Klopp is also massively over rated ~ heavy metal football my arse.
David Moyes appointment at United put English/British managers who were/are possibly in line for a top job back a decade or two. United struggled to attract big names with him in charge and the corporate pressures on top of it contributed to the disaster. Arsenal seem terrified to lose Wenger for those reasons IMO. I don’t agree, but that’s where it is. Dyche and Howe need a job in between to comment their place as a viable option.
He'd be a good shout, no doubt about it, but in the unlikely event of Arsenal giving him the job there's no way he leave Arsenal for the England job. The days when Cloughie, Sir Bobby Robson, Venables and all the top England managers would "crawl on their hands and knees" as Clough said he would for the England job are over. Hence Gareth Southgate.
What Prem League team would take Southgate if he were sacked by England? I struggle to think of any Champ teams who would take him... Perhaps Barnsley? Yet England pay him £1.8m plus bonuses ?... football has gone nuts.
The Spurs players look a shadow of themselves when playing for England, it must be so hard for them to take Southgate seriously.
I was previewing the internationals with a mate on Wednesday, and I said England should beat Slovenia OK. He replied, You mean Harry Kane will beat Slovenia.
