Wonder what the Guardian is on about: "Hodgson confirmed on Saturday that Danny Welbeck, Raheem Sterling, James Milner and Leighton Baines would all return to their clubs. The Southampton – to choose from. Those left are an inexperienced bunch. Eight players have 10 caps or fewer." link: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/mar/29/england-fringe-players-italy-friendly-hodgson
Well done JWP, gave the keeper the eyes. Notice Redmond scored again for the u21s. We were linked with him last summer and there were a lot of detractors. Would anyone see it as a good move this summer?
Britain will not be entering a football team in Olympics as haven't got support from other home nations. Shame, but fair enough.
I'd definitely take Redmond. Bertrand has proven how much a player can improve once placed into a decent attacking team.
Tweet from Targett: Great win for England 21s! Showed great character to get back into it! Buzzing for @Prowsey16 with the winner!! Now please do it for club please log in to view this image
Haven't got a choice...the other home nations only agreed for the 2012 event. The IOC say they won't recognise the team unless all countries that make up GB agree. Stuart Pearce says it was a great experience and every player enjoyed it. Arguable I know, but I feel an Olympic medal has a greater cachet for a sportsman than a World Cup medal in any sport. We still look at Olympians with respect and awe.
To a football fan, the WC is everything, but to the general public an Olympic medal has an unsurpassed magic.
maybe, but you said to a sportsman and that's why I replied with 'no chance'... *notes to self... it doesn't matter what she says, only what she means*
Not surprised as it would not look too good if he picked Gibbs for the squad ahead of Bertrand and then did not give him a chance. Clyne playing twice is interesting, at least Hodgson sees that he is better than Walker albeit he wasn't great against Lithuania, although I would expect him not to play another 90 mins.
