    From tonight (Tuesday 10th September):

Lasse Vigen Christensen came on as a sub for Denmark U21s and scored with his first kick of the game to get the equaliser against Slovenia. He nearly got the winner late on from a free kick but the game ended 2-2.

Philippe Senderos came on as a late sub for Switzerland to earn his 50th cap. He had to face Brede Hangeland who played the final 10 minutes as centre forward as Norway tried to get back from a 2-0 deficit but the Swiss held on.

Alex Kacaniklic played the full 90 as Sweden earned a good win 1-0 against Kazachstan thanks to a goal by Ibrahimovic in the first minute.

Giorgis Karagounis came on 15 minutes from the end as Greece beat Latvia 1-0. It was fiesty in those final minutes with a player from each side being sent off but Kara came through unscathed.

USA and Costa Rica qualify for the Brazilian World Cup.

The United States and Costa Rica celebrated qualification to next year's World Cup finals in Brazil while Mexico fell further into disarray after a dramatic night of action in the CONCACAF region.

We're happy, very thankful with all those who supported us through this and it is for all of Costa Rica", captain Bryan Ruiz told local television.

On a Fulham note, when it comes to near the end of the season will Bryan be looking to steer clear of injury ? same could be said of other players who may qualify.

Interesting point SuperBri. On another slant of this, perhaps we should make sure that any players in the World Cup window have a decent time to run on their contracts, just in case we want to sell them.

Our other South American, Fernando Amorebieta played the full 90 as Venezeula beat Peru in a CONMEBOL qualifier:

" Amorebieta recovered from injury to play a full part in the game as his side put themselves into sixth place in the nine-nation South American group with 19 points and one match remaining, three points behind fourth-placed Ecuador and Uruguay, in fifth, who have two games left.

Peru went ahead as Paolo Hurtado evaded Fernando before hammering in a low shot in the 20th minute, but Salomon Rondon hit back before the break to make it 1-1. Cesar Gonzalez netted a penalty in the 62nd minute after a handball from Carlos Zambrano and Romulo Otero's effort with ten minutes remaining made it 3-1.

Zambrano made amends with a late header, but Venezuela held on for the win and gave themselves a slim hope of qualifying for Brazil."
