Meanwhile, the Senegal squad included two Sarrs, two Mendys, two Ndiayes, two Gueyes, while Guinea had three Camaras, two Contes, two Keitas, and two Cisses.

I think Pleat might have imploded.

An Algerian team with Mahrez, Feghouli, Slimani and Bentaleb on the bench just lost to Mauritania.
That means that they will finish bottom of a group that also contained Angola and Burkina Faso.

Jean-Louis Gasset just found out that losing 4-0 at home to Equatorial Guinea doesn't wash.
That's probably his career done, as he's 70.
 
The two Group E matches ended 0-0, so Mali top their group and Bissouma stays on.
South Africa join them by finishing 2nd, but it also looks like 3rd place Namibia will, too.
They have 4 points and will probably qualify as one of the 4 strongest 3rd place sides.

Doesn't excuse the inelegance of having six groups, though, meaning that tomorrow's match between Oman and Kyrgyzstan inexplicably has stakes despite the two teams scoring just one goal between them, since the following scenarios are all possible:
Oman win: Palestine, Syria, Oman and Bahrain go through
Any kind of draw: Palestine, Syria, Bahrain and Indonesia go through
Kyrgyzstan win by two goals: Palestine, Syria, Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan go through, with Kyrgyzstan going through on goal difference
Kyrgyzstan win by one goal: Palestine, Syria, Bahrain and Indonesia go through, with Indonesia going through on goals scored
