Harry Kane what a phenomenon. Tottenham and England's greatest scorer still 29 will easily surpass Shearer as the Premier leagues greatest scorer if he stays injury free and stays in the Premier league.

Brilliant performance by England.

Can't help thinking that if they gave Kane the ball more often he might score even more. I know it's a radical idea. Hell, I'm not a football manager but my thinking goes something on the lines of 'we've got one of the best strikers in the world here, if he has the ball in the area of the goal he might score'. Instead we have situations where Kane has been criticised for playing badly when he isn't even getting the ball. And it's worse when Sterling is playing because he wastes a load of chances Kane would score.
It's the same situation with England and Spurs: a total lack of midfield creativity.
Both goals came from him peeling into space on the back post from a set-piece.
Bizarrely naive from Italy.

The age old problem of an inability to control
the ball in midfield against technically superior opponents. Once Italy took charge in the second half, it was just attack v defence.
Trying to outwork them was effective in the first half.
Having a midfield three that have either played too much or too little meant it couldn't continue.
Rice and Bellingham play virtually every minute of every game, while Phillips is the opposite.
They've literally played nearly 10 times as much time as he has this season.

Up and down the country people are saying 'how come nobody marks Kane when he peels off into space on the back post'. Yeah, well it's not as if managers and defenders haven't noticed that he does that. But that's the brilliance of Kane. They all know he does that yet he does it time and time again because nobody can stop him.

The defence collectively would have to cover him every time.
Given how clinical Kane is in scoring, you will only
have to have one or two lapses per game to present
him with opportunities.
