I watched the England U21s last night as they were live on YouTube and kicked off 30 mins before the seniors. Made the right choice I think too. Sess and Skipp started. We won 2-1 with goals from Nketiah and Godfrey. Game was really tasty as well, Austria ended up with about 5 or 6 yellows. When I read Southgate's line up it was reminiscent of Poch’s against Colchester, 3 CBs and 2 DMs. Painful.
Good decision by Sessegnon to absolutely leather the ball off the keeper's head, so that he was concussed for the second goal from the following corner.
I was wondering why there seemed to be so many options in so many positions, but then I noticed that it's 30 players! Let's hope that Southgate rotates and rest people appropriately.
Southgate being a bit snippy about Mourinho from about the four minute mark. Poor form, even if he's trying to play it off as a joke. Edit: Comes up again later in the clip, too. He's a lot more respectful and reasonable then.
Good news about Tanguy and Sissoko, albeit Sissoko looks to be taking a back seat anyway so his call up wouldn’t have made much difference. Hopefully Calvin-Lewindowski and Ingsiesta start most of these internationals whilst Harry watches from the bench.
