To be fair, the English scoring a goal, then locking any vaguely Hispanic members of the US team in a cage on their side of the halfway line, would have turned some heads

Because we can't have nice things match fit right backs, not only is Aurier ruled out for several weeks after tearing his hamstring at the ACoN, he's compounded his injury problems by injuring his wrist when thumping the table giving a pre-match pep talk ahead of Ivory Coast's match against Mali

In terms of ridiculous reasons for Spurs players to be injured, this might just creep into the Top 5...

Great, we can add Aurier getting a concussion to the list of reasons we have to keep Trippier...

Pochettino has turned down Ireland U19s' attempt to call up Troy Parrott for the youth Euros.
He's wanted on the pre-season instead, apparently.
Sign for the campaign, just testing the water or a note on our complete lack of decent options up top?

As I have said, pre-season is the perfect time to test academy
prospects against decent opposition, in a consequence-free environment.

Whatever the lead the line attack options are after the transfer window
closes, the opportunity should be used by the club.

Megan Rapinoe having a mad "five minutes.Player of the tournament, golden boot winner and cup winner then I/2 an hour on the Rachel political show. Good luck to her!

But in all honesty,as they request equal pay as the men.....you can't compare the Messi's,Ronaldo's with the Morgan's etc of the ladies world. Am I being cruel?
Although they may be bringing in more loot than the US men's team..But you can't compare the US men's team with most European/South American teams...YET!

I don't think they're asking to be compared to Messi and Ronaldo though in all fairness, I think they're asking to be compared to the USMNT. Considering the women are centrally contracted (IIRC) to the federation and seem to be the bigger draw (and more successful to boot), they have a completely fair point IMO. But you can't equate that situation to that in other countries like England or France or Germany, because the gap in stature, national recognition and commercially is far more in favour of the mens sides, you'd have thought.

I agree that the US ladies are a bigger draw then the US men. I don't know anything about the US ladies league/s. The MSL seems to be off and running with good crowds when I watch.

That is the problem. The US teams victory in WC doesn't mask the fact that the infrastructure in US womens football is behind Europe. It is a wonder they could put together a winning team.

I believe it's down to an unintended side-effect of the sports scholarship system over there.
Their college sports are big business, so they've got a lot of young men who receive them for American football and basketball.
They're required to offer a similar number for female students, but they go to other, more popular sports, like "soccer".

Hoooooooooooooo boy, there's a ****ing army of alt-right commentators and bigoted pastors posting really, really angry things about her on Twitter right now, which definitely doesn't entitle George Orwell to a percentage of their ad revenue...
