Anyone know the nations cup format? is it a mini league with the top two playing a final or straight draw/knockout? EDIT: Or some other FIFA fekwit idea?
Just a bit a info - Aussie legend and former Everton and Millwall forward Tim Cahill is playing his final international match tonight against the might of Lebanon. It will be his 108th cap and is the Socceroos leading goalscorer. Not bad for a midfielder! Good on ya Timmy.
I wouldn't imagine there is much competition though. Mark Viduka and Harry Kewell spring to mind, and neither of those would have played half those games (should look up before asserting this, but cannot be bothered)
Game finished 3-0 but the result was immaterial , Tim got 10 mins and is still walking around the Olympic stadium signing autographs taking selfies. Those 2 you mentioned were highly regarded in their day and also have hero status, but never really made the world notice until Cahill came along.
Gazza made his debut for Argentina in the 59th minute in the early hours of this morning. Argentina won 2-0. Lamela also started the game, Foyth was an unused sub after his MOTM display on his debut the other day. Good to see all the lads got minutes over the past couple games, they’ve all been in great form for us so it’s fully deserved.
There's an awful lot riding on the progress of Troy Parrott. If he is the rightful successor of Robbie Keane, then Ireland could have a player to build around. Without him making it at the highest level, there's some lean years ahead, no matter who's selecting the team.
The first problem is everyone keeps comparing Parrott to Keano, when anyone whose ever watched him play sees his far closer to Harry Kane
Unlike every blog and fansite that's written about him for the past two years. I wonder if, when he was starting out, the equivalent were saying Robbie Keane was a young Niall Quinn?
Gazzaniga save just after coming on: Lamela assist for that Inter prick, barely a minute into the game:
