So a RB goes off for a LW and we persist with another RB at LB while moving a CB to RB instead?

Welcome to planet Southgate.

3-2.

Friendly or not, the lack of anything remotely resembling a game plan or system is an embarrassment.

England are the Stoke of international football.
I know I keep saying it, but it's true.
Our defence against teams ranked outside the top 10 is solid.
Against teams in the top 10, it's woeful - pace, movement, skill gives us no chance whatsoever.

Reactions: Citizen Kane
The spine of the team is lacking quality in goal, central defence and midfield. There's a lack of pace without Walker and Rose.

Butland, Keane, Maguire and Winks should be getting a proper could chance sooner rather than later.

France have a lot of individuals, but I'm not sure they know how to perform as a team.
England have a handful of good individual players, who perform very well at club level with top class foreign players around them.
At international level, we are still way off the pace.

Gareth Southgate gave a very good impression of Roy Hodgson last night, more square pegs in round holes than round ones!

I am afraid the Eric Dier has had a poor week, but he is not a central midfielder suited to playing in that system, we would never play him in that role!

Trippier started slowly but grew into the game and was unlucky to be taken off. No idea what Walker was doing on the left! Alli was hit and miss and Kane scored 2 but was very isolated.

Away from Spurs players Jones was better than I expected, still think there is a player in there if he can stay fit. Stones and Cahill were poor, Bertrand was ok and should have stayed on, Oxlade Chamberlain like Eric is not a CM and was truly awful, Sterling like Alli was hit and miss, but generally more effective than Rashford was on Saturday. Both keepers did ok in my opinion Butland is the future and should start every game now leading up to the world cup.

I'm going to surprise no one and be positive. I enjoyed that game and I'm enjoying watching England at the moment. Plenty of rough edges but we're giving it a good go and we'll hopefully learn more by pushing ourselves and struggling rather than playing safe and getting complacent.

Heung-Min Son has fractured his arm, while playing for Korea against Qatar.
He's expected to be out for 6-8 weeks, which could impact his pre-season preparations. FFS.
