Perfectly valid point. But also you have to taken into account the fact that there are eight extra games for football league sides to fit in, plus the 1st round of the Carling Cup, compared to the Premiership teams. (And in the case of sides L1 and L2, JPT matches and the 1st and 2nd rounds of the FA Cup as well - although that's balanced out slightly but those sides not having internationak breaks).
In the past, I would have hated a break when we were on a winning run, but things are different now. We will come back fitter and rested and carry on where we left off. A player said recently that it was good to have a break. Fonte has been injured and said recently that Jos was fantastic covering for him, so another break will do him good. I bet teams playing us would rather we carried on and got knackered..hard luck boys, we will be back fitter than ever.
I'm not going to start another International Breaks thread. But I am going to repeat how much I bloody hate them. Bloody Thursday, which means another 9 days [sorry to remind you Pepys]. Can't help it. I'm so uninterested in whether England look good, great or crap against whoever they're playing. I don't care whether Micah Richards is selected, whether Rooney is playing or not, or even whether young OXO gets a game, as is rumoured. I just want to see Saints. I think I'd feel fairly similar is Adam was picked. Well, maybe not.
I think the international breaks are good for seperating the season into bitesize chunks. It helps the team set targets e.g. go into the next international break 7 points clear etc.
Its a good and benificial break for the players given the amount of midweek games we play and forthcoming potential fa cup run .But as a fan when we are playing such entertaining football the break feels like an eternity i feel like a kid waiting for xmas day
It's only 1 Saturday but it feels like eternity because there's no match to look forward to and analyze and no post-match dissection of the game. England will get mullered (or whatever the Spanish equivalent is) and I don't care as much as I used to, partly because England are poor and partly because I no longer need a break from the stress of being a Saints fan.
You're not even in England! One of the best things about this international break is that Craig Mackail Smith will be sitting around in Cyprus while our boys are putting some hard training in.
AOC isn't in the squad so no need to care about that one. It's a shame as he'd be an improvement on some of the tripe that is in it. Same goes for Lallana and quite a few others but tnat's their loss.
Just wait until December and January when its pissing down with snow and you cant step out side your front door without slipping and breaking your ankle. Let alone being able to play a football match. A backlog of games due to frozen pitches and weather warnings. How many of you will love international breaks then?
