He came in with hardly any of us knowing so this is a useful interview, as he explains a little about his role, our youth setup and how England are messing up.

There's definitely a lot of positive stuff coming out from our youth setup right now and I think we've got some exciting years ahead of us as the first graduates from our improved coaching team start challenging the first team.

"At Spurs winning a Youth game by being safe, unimaginative, and technically poor, doesn't sit well at all. I am interested in how many of that team will progress into the Tottenham first team, or have a career in football in another first team"


I liked this bit. It sits well with my own philosophy; the philosophy that I'd rather watch a game where we lose 4-5, than a boring 1-0 win.


That last section has a "yuk" factor to it. I'm guessing this was his payment for the interview; the chance to plug his record label.

Good interview. It's nice to know that the club have the right philosophy to coaching at youth level, even though our results have actually been very good.
Bringing players through that are ready to play in the first team is what really matters, not whether they get a win in the reserves or U18s.

He's right about the England set up, too. The youth side is seen as a distraction and too many sides fail to take it seriously.
Far too many players are drafted straight into the senior side before they've established themselves and gained any real experience of the international game at lower levels.
The side should be playing like a Premier League side, as well. The idea that it wouldn't work is ridiculous.
