Football draws for the group stage have been made. We have Senegal, Uruguay and UAE. Don't know anything about the UAE side but Senegal will be dangerous with Cisse and Ba and Uruguay will be dangerous as well even with Suarez.

Also interesting to find that Newcastles stadium will temporarily be renamed St James' Park during the games.

Pearce has said he will pick players on merit. <doh> Rubbish!

uruguay are absolute quality! senegal also have some serious quality. uae, fair enough - might as well be playing uea i'd have thought, but still - can't see britain getting through that draw if pearce picks who we all think he'll pick...

i think the stadium has to go back to its original name because i'm guessing sports direct are not a sponsor of the games <ok>
 
How about the McDonalds arena? <laugh>

None of these teams are pushovers. These teams, unless your GB, have some of the best up and coming players the country has to offer.
 
Are we going to be positive about the football at the Olympics or will it be a sideshow? 3 weeks after the Euros and into pre season friendlies.
If we do well, and despite the tough draw we have a history of doing well in home tournaments, and there is a momentum, it could attract a fair bit of interest.
And it has hardly been mentioned, but what about Holt as one of the overaged players instead of the exiled Beckham.
