A brilliant article (and decent thread too).

Exactly the sort of thing I would have written if I had the inclination to sit and type a page or two on our beloved club (it was a struggle to make myself read it all)

I find myself agreeing with everything he has written including his comments on Garvan and quite honestly the Evans situation has only raised the expectation levels of supporters and the team has consistently fallen short of that. Let's hope for a change in fortunes somehow

A fine article and I agree with many of the points he makes however ta strong case must be made for Clegg and Jewell to leave the club and take the geriatrics with them! Clegg is way out of his depth and so is Jewell. The answer is staring Jewell in the face for christ sake! We have a number of talented young players that will show the hunger, desire, pace that is badly needed to galvanise this team. At least I would be able to accept defeats so long as the players were giving it their all.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked, tractorbhoy I was just about to create an article about this after I read it.

A brilliant read and sums up exactly all the problems the club have experienced. Lets face it the job Jewell has done in terms of recent results has been catastrophic and he has to take the blame for this with poor tactics in the main but at the same time, the club was ripped apart by Keane, stupid decisions like getting rid of Rhodes, Garvan, Wright and Klug are some of the worst decisions I have known ever in football, along with not tieing players like McAuley down to contracts. This is the major reason why we are in a mess this season, it was always going to be a tough season, although some of the results and the manner of the results have been unacceptable.

Keane ripped this club apart and it will take years to get anywhere near the level we were before he came in but thats no excuse for the lack lustre performances and poor tactics but whoever came in had a hell of a job on their hands.

Players are the problem, but more specifically the players with job of defending attacking when we can manage it doesnt seem to be too much of an issue. in saying that though i still agree wholeheartedly, keane didnt just ruin the team he ruined the ethos of the club removing any sense that we could play attacking football, meaning that jewell was almost forced into a corner to get these experienced players because Evans had had enough of money being wasted, so there was a very limited scope to make unrisky, i.e not scouring lower league and youth team signings to fill the gaps, yes he can be partitioned some blame for them not performing but players with that amount of experience shouldn't need telling. January should be an interesting month, and it seems scouts if the links can be trusted have been looking in the right areas which gives me cause for post january optimism.

I also hold onto my theory that when Sonko returns a big improvement will be seen
