Modric doesn't deserve any sympathy, especially from Spurs fans, and should be denied a move anywhere

He did not have to sign a new contract and frankly the whole top players all being stockpiled by a handful of clubs act got old a long time ago

NSIS - I alluded to this a couple of days ago about RM being involved in this manoevering, also Partizan apparently are due 5% of the fee so they are in this up to their necks it appears that the presidents son is advising Modric- very messy and unnecessary.

Possibly. But if you read the article, they intimate that Levy is so pissed off that he may block any move, just to punish Modric for his behaviour. Unlikely, I agree. But, it depends how pissed off Levy and Lewis are!..

i think they would rather have the money than block the move,as we still need players,as the preferred option

As much as I admire Levy's stance and recognise the importance of taking away player power to hold no respect to the club and contracts that they'd sure as Hell hold the club to had they got injured, I really think his continued aggression in this situation will damage us far more than Luka or Madrid.

If he refuses to play then dock his wages each and every week until he comes out publicly with an apology. If that means him seeing out his contract without pay and without playing then so be it. He will damage his career, which will be practicially over by then, a lot more than he will damage Spurs.

First choice would be a non-PL club meeting the asking price, but we shouldn't be held to ransom at all costs

Not a happy situation, I agree. However, somebody has to eventually make a stand against these mercenary ****ers and their scumbag agents. As has been said, modric has plenty to lose too, if Levy holds him to the remainder of his contract - he'll be 31. unlikely to happen, I know, but I think it's important that somebody shows these people that they can't have everything their own way.

I think we need to get rid and get a replacement in ASAP. This will be more damaging to the start of our season if this is allowed to drag on for too much longer.

I now dont want him to stay at Spurs as we are going to go through this every transfer window. If he wants to go let him. Get £27M and a player from Real and continue to build and prepare for the new season. He is starting to throw his toys out the pram again by refusing to train and go on tour then get rid ASAP

Spurfectionist,if an apology is forced then it isn't meant,it's only words. Let's just get rid of him.

Here's a suggestion that is probably a tad unlikely, but...why not sign Moutinho and Hulk, with Modric making up a chunk of the fee?

Are Porto on the list of "Modric approved clubs"? He's hardly likely to win the CL with them and the Portuguese league isn't the Prem or La Liga.

Yeah, good point. But we forgave him last summer's antics. This years are worse due to it being a 2nd offence, but if he came out and admitted being a tit and signed a new contract then i could probably forgive him

They're in Pot 1 of next season's CL draw, and Portuguese is basically what speaking Spanish sounds like if you've downed half a bottle of tequila...

  15. We're getting rid of Modric, of that there can be no doubt. Modric will not be signing a new contract. He didn't last season, and there's been nothing but confirmation of the fact that he still wants to leave. Please, let's not enter into the kind of delusions that the Gooners are currently forcing upon themselves with their believe that RvP will do a U-turn.

The reason why Levy is so angry is because Modric's behaviour will encourage the vulture-clubs that are circling us to believe that they can pick him up for a song, and that makes it difficult for Levy to shift him before the window closes, so we can use the funds to buy his replacement. If we had the same kind of money to throw away as £ity do, Levy could treat him in exactly the same way that the Arab playboy treated Tevez, and let him rot at home. We don't have that kind of money to waste, so Modric know that, however much Levy is angered by his antics, a move will be forced.

What worries me, is that Levy's bloody-mindedness will mean that, yes, he'll get top dollar for Modric, but it will be on the last day of the transfer window, and we'll play the first half of the coming season without an adequate replacement.

Having said that, I don't see that situation as being as critical as when we lost Berbatov and Keane. Unless, of course, Levy is banking on the Modric money to buy our new striker, because we need at least one more striker, and I'd say that we probably need two, if we are not going to promote one of our youngsters to the first team squad.

As has been suggested, Madrid are trying to pull the same **** that Barca did with Fabregas.
They've turned the player's head and now they think that they can dictate the terms of the transfer.
City and Chelsea might buy their trophies, but at least they're not cheap about it.

I think, HIAG, that Levy is just pissed off with Ratboy's attitude, and childish tantrums. He is a professional, and expects those whom he employs to behave professionally, too. Something our little Luca seems incapable of doing!..

  18. He's such a silly man. He could have left our club with semi-legendary status. Instead, he has chosen to go down the Berbatov route, and will be gradually air-brushed from the annuls of our glorious history, with each passing season.

At least RvP has had the decency to see out his contract.

Didn't man city try and do this to tevez, and were told by the PFA that it was illegal as the most a player can be fined is 2 weeks wages for one incident, they ended up having to pay tevez even when he was in Argentina playing golf for months. Absolutely crazy I know, but not that surprising in this country.

They tried to fine him 6 weeks for the refusing to warm up incident alone. As I understand it they didn't pay Tevez at all whilst he was AWOL.
