The best time of all the five juvenile races on Saturday at the Curragh was by Duke De Sessa

His future looks very bright indeed

HMS Endeavour got the job done second time up. He looked quite speedy today and then looked to get a bit tired late. Maybe 5F will be his best trip based on the style of today's win.

    New Energy

Bit of a dark horse this Irish colt as was unplaced in his 7 furlong Barrier Trial last month, but caught my eye with his greenness and thought he shaped like a step up in trip will suit

In anticipation of a big run this weekend have backed the horse each way for the 2000 Guineas @ 50-1

Real acid test for him this weekend. Up against Point Lonsdale and dropping in trip on faster ground, you would think he has it all to do to put it up to the 2000 Guineas favourite on Sunday. Point Lonsdale is 1/2 for the National Stakes and I think that's short enough. Officially rated 115, he has only a 1 lb lead on the 114 ranked Ebro River. Native Trail is unbeaten but the trainer did indicate that he felt the colt might benefit from slightly easier ground than Good To Firm but he gets those conditions again this weekend. Duke De Sessa has an each-way chance at 9/1 this weekend if dealing with the faster conditions but I am selfishly hoping Native Trail can win, having backed him at 40/1 for the Guineas.

Good luck with your fellow in both races.

Awful run being the first beat 2 furlongs out, hopefully something comes to light to explain this tame effort

With the evenings drawing in and the going getting a bit juicier trainer Ralph Beckett seems to bring out a few staying 2yos to get their heads in front. Looking at his 2yos I will start off with Allemande who is owned by Kiersten Rausing and from her A family. She's by Sea the Moon out of the Galileo mare Almiranta, whose best produce so far has been Albaflora. I'd expect Allemande to get a chance to show her ability sometime in October at a course like Newbury or Newmarket.
The other one I'll put up is by long-time Beckett owner Mr Richmond-Watson, who of course owned Beckett's Oaks winner Look Here. She's the granddam of this filly, Hither, who's by New Approach out of the Dubawi mare Hereawi (must admit it must be tempting to try to get a horse out of this mare named Fekawi). Will again be a backender.

Both of these should be interesting 3yos.

Maybe the different ground was a factor. I did notice that Homeless Songs was poor from the Weld stable as well. Both horses were fast tracking to Group 1 company though and Duke De Sessa was dropping to 7F from a mile, so it panned out as a different sort of test from his impressive win last time.

Super Chief is entered up this weekend. The Oppenheimer colt is by Kingman out of Eastern Belle and is a full brother to Megallan, who is decent but not quite top class. Super Chief is also with Gosden and looks a likely sort, who should to be near the fore of the betting if turning up.

    Lustre

Yet to run Galileo filly trained by Donnacha O'Brien who has had a poor season so far, but normally unleashes a decent filly this time of year
