    Same here .

car insurance went up , rang several other companies and the Cheapest was way more than my new quote with the existing crowd .

I am sure they have taken into account the probable ( IMHO ) fact that this will lead to more uninsured drivers .

That will bring its own issues when they are involved in accidents !

There’s also the problem with people trying it on with insurance scams, a few years ago, some Romanian guy at a roundabout was planning it, I didn’t know at the time until afterwards.
I was going straight on, 2nd exit & so was he, I’m in lane 2 & he in 3, I set off as the lights changed, he didn’t set off as quickly, but instead of falling in behind me, he decided to come across from the 3rd lane on the right & catch my car, when we pulled over, he was out with his car, I was furious with him, he was saying, he was in the correct lane, I said it’s irrelevant as he ran into me, checking the damage, he’d literally cleaned dirt off the car, told him, I didn’t expect to hear anything more from him as there’s no damage, went to work, when I got in next morning, called AXA & told them I believed it was a scam & they took all the details etc.
A month or so later, started getting letters from his insurance, so passed everything to AXA. Didn’t think anything more about it as it went quiet, then, almost a year later, I get a letter from AXA saying they’ve paid him £4k & I’m going to have to pay something & might have to go to court, saying he’s claimed for neck injuries, damage to the REAR of his car, **** me, I was furious. I got on the phone, told them I’d told them it was a scam & they still ****ing paid out!
In the end, he admitted everything, but it’s just so stressful when you’re the victim of something out of your control.
Just keep an eye out for everything on the road is all I can say!

Too late for that case unfortunately, but invest in a dash cam and a rearview cam.. probably a couple of hundred pounds plus a few pounds a month for the cloud storage. I got them as free optional extras in my car and they ended an argument immediately when an old lady rear-ended me and swore on her grandchild's life to the police that I reversed into her.

7.00 a.m. one Saturday morning, driving along Freetown Way. Only me and one other car on the whole road. Young lad driving other car, overtook me at speed then pulled in front and slammed his brakes on. Thankfully I was already slowing down, I then pulled past him and he just grinned at me. I’ve now got front and rear dashcam.
