Great post. But the longhair thing was something new, as were the fashions. Later even older people were acting like younger folk. I ended up not having my haircut properly for about 3 years just to annoy my dad who even after those few years had giving up bothering about it. Difficult for anyone to understand but at school there were weekly hair inspections and any over your ears or collar or too long sideburns and you were sent home for a haircut. They seemed more bothered about the length of hair than your educational progress. Good fun in a way as rebellion is more fun when they attempt to be strict than when you are more or less allowed what to do what you want. Pleased to hear your grandad got his deserved recognition. The fact he didn't want it speaks volumes about the character of this fine gentleman.
