David Button has joined Brighton.

He's a good keeper, but far too quiet for my liking. He was never going to win the fans over at this point and he needs to be loved - this deal made sense for all parties.

Hopefully we sign another keeper...

There is the Spanish guy from Besiktas of course. Hopefully we got the kind of money for Button that was being banded about before, so we can afford him.


EDIT: No sooner posted than find Spanish papers saying we've offered Espanyol £1.5m for their keeper Roberto Jimenez. He was on loan last season to Malaga and at 32 he's experienced (relatively).

Surely the sale of Button mean we will be bringing in another keeper!! A few days ago I said I wanted four more signings.... CB, LB, RW and S but now add a keeper to that making it five signings!

Funnily enough the Spanish Keeper from Besiktas we have been linked with Fabri I think it was is not in there squad tonight for there friendly against Reading.

* the reports from Turkey are that we've had an increased bid of £5.4m accepted by Besiktas for keeper Fabri

* The Mirror are saying that we've made a firm offer of £8m to Southampton for Matt target

And meanwhile the rumours about other possibles keep coming in:

* from Argentine, reports that we are considering paying the £16m release clause for 24 year old Columbian defensive midfielder Wilmar Barrios from Boca Juniors. After a successful World Cup Barrios has attracted interest from the like of Spurs, Everton and the Dark Side and Boca are keen to hold on to him until after their South American Cup campaign. However, a preemptive move from us could scupper them all.

* El Mundo Deportivo reported that Espanyol had rejected our £13m bid for centre back David Lopez. However, they are saying today that we've upped the bid to £16m.

* and closer to home, increased optimism with Newcastle close to signing Rondon from West Brom that the £20m deal for Aleksandar Mitrovic is close to being finalised
 
Today's rumour - from Spain - is that we're looking at making a raid on Girona, as we did for the two guys from Nice. The players are:

* 27 year old CB Juan Pedro Ramírez López (simply known as Juanpe) and

* 26 year old attacking midfielder Cristian Portugués Manzanera (simply known as Portu)


And elsewhere - from Turkey since Galatasary are also interested - a centre forward surfaces.

* 25 year old Nigerian Ahmed Musa from Leicester. He was on loan last season to CSKA Moscow.(6 goals in 10 games). Scored twice in the World Cup v Iceland.

I like an earlier poste said be wary of signing to many untried european players.
therefore for me METRO,TARGETT, and I know he will have his critics GREELISH his
acquisition would be a lot cheaper than the 25/40mil names that are now being bandied about
and positional versatility being one of his assets
 
Mitrovic is crucial to us now, given that he'd be a signing that is already bedded in. Similarly if we can make the Targett deal happen, it's worth an extra couple of million to bypass the bedding in period.

I don't believe the Grealish rumours, it feels like Aston Villa or Grealish's agent trying to get the price up - if Spurs are the only bidder, Villa won't get the price they need. Grealishis not a position of need and I can't see us spend £25m+ on a Cairney replacement when we still need a GK/LB/CB/RW/ST.

* the Sun are saying that we've offered £26m for Real Sociedad’s 26 year old Brazilian striker Willian Jose. Don't know if this is us flexing our muscles with Newcastle indicating we won't hang around or Jokanovic after our lack of scoring so far in friendlies, indicating we need "more"

* German papers are reporting our interest in Borussia Dortmund 27 year old winger Andre Schürrle the former Dark Side person). No fee is mentioned.

Dortmund spent £26.5m on him and he's not done well there - if we can get a good deal on him, I think he'd be a great signing. I could see him and Sess switching sides and causing all sorts of havoc!

For the record though, crazy to be linked with Schurrle.
 
It appears from paper talk that we are now after Gayle, as i see it Benitez is playing silly buggers.
I would prefer Mitro but if nothing is concluded by Friday then we should walk away,an persue
another C/F so he can get bedded in before the season starts, Schurrie ? not for me
 
With so many rumours flying around it's been hard to keep up with where things stand. However, with the window end getting ever closer transfers are beginning to happen. Here are a few who appeared in this thread in one form or another and can now be knocked of our list:

* Tim Krul of Brighton is joining Norwich on a free transfer

* Mbemba of Newcastle has joined Porto

* Remember Jordan Ayew from almost day one of the window? We apparently had an £8m offer rejected by Swansea. Well, Leicester have now stepped in

* We've been gazumped on Malcolm of Bordeaux. Roma jumped over us with a €36m bid .. but at the 11th hour in came Barcelona with €40m

* And our friends at Sevilla have stolen Sergi Gomez of Celta Vigo for £4m [And here was me thinking the friendly on 4th August had been arranged to sweeten Celtic Vigo]

Strong rumours that we've agreed a deal for Schurrle - a solution for our right side, you'd think. He is fond of playing on the left and cutting in, but you'd think he and Sessegnon could swap dependent on the match situation should the deal go through.
 
I like the sound of Schurlle, a forward line of Sess, Mitro and Schurlle would have lots of invention, pace and goals in it.

Apparently we're also being linked with Rondon. If we can't get Mitro, he'd be a very good alternative. Interest in him is doubly clever, as it seems that he's Benitez's first choice target. Our interest might prompt Newcastle to be more amenable over Mitrovic so we don't go head to head with them for Rondon. Fingers crossed.

The latest rumour is that it would be a loan signing. That would certainly be appealing to us and could work for all parties if he has a good season (and we stay up). Save some of those pennies for Mitrovic & Targett.
 
Though not a lot on social media there is something going on with Fulham and Alfie Mawson..... Tuesday night we were 18/1 9th favourites to sign him with sky bet, Wednesday morning we had moved to 4/1 2nd favourites and by Wednesday afternoon we were 5/6 on favourites.... that is a massive shift in a short space of time.

The rumours I have found is that we have bid for him but are unwilling to match Burnley’s bid but he is desperate to move to London rather than Burnley!!
 
With Schurrle in I’m am down to three on my wanted list now

Striker - ( hopefully Mitrovic in next few days)

Centre Back - ( would be happy with Mawson)

Left Back - ( would be happy with Targett
 
A good call Cookie, Bryan an alternative to Targett, Dunk for Mawson
Mitrovic yes,but i still would like Grealish in our squad
