So based on the fee for Wan-Bissaka, we can claim both our fullbacks will be worth £50m next summer, and now we know Godfrey is already worth more than £27m thanks to Mings. Our defence of freebies and youngsters is now a £150m defence. Mad
£53m so far on 3 signings, plus an unknown fee for Jota. €25m for "Wesley" a young centre forward from Brugge. On the one hand he's a young, strong striker reminescent of the signing of Benteke. On the other hand, he scored 10 goals in 28 games last season, against the likes of Bushiri - who has just joined our U23s. He was outscored by two of his midfielders (which admittedly combined with his 9 assists suggests he's more than just a finisher), and only scored 3 goals more than a certain Mbokani, despite playing 6 games more. He was the 12th highest scorer in the league last season. Naturally you can spin stats both ways, and they had to do something to replace Tammy Abraham. Dean Smith expects 3 more signings, they've been linked to 3 championship players with £30m, £30m and £20m price tags according to their respective clubs. Madness.

BBC gossip suggesting Sheff utd to break their transfer record for Maupay at £22m. I thought they were supposed to be rivalling us as low spending paupers of the division! (The source is the Sun, so could very well be nonsense!) Bah!
In the EDP article McLean suggests where our strengths will come from: "We've signed a few, they're in the door early, which straight away is good for them to get up and running with the boys, and the manager will put his points across with what he wants from them." The fight for places in that starting XI for the Premier League opener at Liverpool has already begun and McLean insists the trip to Anfield on Friday, August 9, shouldn't hold any fear for them. "It's obviously one of the toughest starts you can get but it's one that we're looking forward to," said the former Aberdeen man. Buying a lot of expensive players doesn't necessarily produce a team, as Fulham found out. Our players have worked hard to get this chance and they're looking forward to the challenge of working as a team and playing against the best. The cup matches against Arsenal, Chelsea, Cardiff and Bournemouth show that they can do just that. There are no 'squad players' so everybody is competing for a starting place and then to keep it once they're in. The team focus, instinctive passing and clear tactics which the players buy into are what we'll bring to each and every game. It won't always work in the PL but it makes me confident that we'll hold our own over the season and survive the challenge.
Interesting that Martin Penney thinks that we've probably finished our transfer business this window, other than another RB: "Folks say that the oft-quoted figure of £20 million for recruitment has not been anywhere near reached yet. But as I understand it that figure also includes loan fees (as in Fährmann and Patrick Roberts) and wages. Plus we’ve made nothing out of outgoings this close-season to top that figure up, although we currently have only one undeserving high-earner left on our books (who hopefully will be gone soon). Not much left in the pot now I guess if I’m correct in my assumptions." Well, he missed out the £450k we got for Franke and the wages of the new young players are somewhat balanced by those for players going out on loan. SW said that Citeh had been very helpful in the loan deal for Roberts so that may be not much more than his wages. Even if Fährmann is costing us the £4-5m being talked about, there must be some of the £20 left in the budget. Time will tell. http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...lity-under-23s-classic-vid-whats-not-to-like/
Super speculative rumour: Harrison Reed hasn't joined the Southampton squad for their pre-season, not clear whether that's a minor injury or he's been told he can leave (several other players in that situation left out of their tour). He looked fairly handy at RB and at DM, perhaps the two weaknesses left in our squad. He also spent some of last season playing as a RWB for Blackburn. I don't think he'd be available at a sane price, which is a shame because he'd be a handy player to have in the squad.
Apologies if it's been posted earlier - Gilmour confirmed - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...f-midfielder-following-arsenal-exit-1-6148611
2 year deal with an option for a third, seems sensible. Curious if a loan to the Eredivisie is confirmed soon, given he's supposedly been training out there.
DF seemed to really like Harrison and if he feels he can strengthen us in two positions it could be a good move. Very pleased to have Guilmour confirmed. If he does go on loan to get his game time up perhaps it'll be for 6 months and he'll be an option in January.
Emi signed up for the next 5 years until 2024 https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2019/july/emi-buendia-signs-new-deal-at-norwich-city/
Fantastic I never thought a summer transfer window could be such fun when there have been barely any signings and only contract extensions announced
Trybull, Vrancic, Zimbo and Srbeny are now the only significant players from last season who haven't signed new deals. We also have a new rumour: ESPN think ourselves, Palace and Sheffield United are after Javier Ontiveros, 21 year old Malaga winger who can play anywhere in an attacking midfield 3.
Am I alone in wondering whether DF will feel that a back three of Godfrey, Klose and Zimmerman, with Hanley as cover, will be better suited to the Premiership especially as that would give him more options for the wide positions.
