We are assembling a pretty decent Under 23 squad - i must find their fixture list next time I'm on the Canaries' website.
Very curious how many of our U23's actually end up playing for our U23's... You'd think a lot of them, particularly Bushiri with half a season of top-flight Belgian football under his belt, and Adshead with similar League One experience, would look to make an impression on loan somewhere.
Fahrmann deal picking up a lot of traction in German media, now being reported as close to completion, as a loan with no purchase option.
This would be amazing https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/norwich-city-transfer-rumours-schalke-keeper-loan-1-6140863
New rumour alert: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...tle-Dan-Happe-Leicester-Norwich-circling.html Dan Happe fromm Leyton Orient. 20 year old CB who was ever-present in the Conference last season. Orient supposedly want him loaned right back, and he only has a year on his current contract. Much as it's a Daily Mail article, that fits the bill for us I'd say.
You would have to feel a bit sorry for Krul if he loses his spot but there is no room for sentimentality. Plus if he gets injured we would be forced to play McGovern Loan deal so not much risk money wise too. War chest still 90% full dispite a few signings.
I think Krul would have been daft to assume he'd keep the #1 shirt unchallenged, and equally Fahrmann joins knowing he has to earn the shirt - no promises of game time will have been made. It should be a good competition, which is exactly what Farke/Webber want throughout the squad. Should this deal come off, I'd say Aarons is the only player without competition in the squad. If we go down, we've still got a very handy #1 in Krul, and hopefully one of the youngsters will have come on sufficiently to challenge him. We're not left paying the wages for Fahrmann unnecessarily in a lower tier.
I love this. We are using our Premiership millions to cement our key assets, reward them for what they have done for us, and up their value. I would also guess, with all these new contracts, there will be a % decrease in wages if we get relegated. That would be the smart thing to do, and we all know Webber is a smart guy.
I think that goes without saying. Under McNally we were pretty good with that too, but in the intervening years I'd say the club let desperation to stay up get the better of them, and caved into players. There's no way Naismith should have had a deal with no relegation clause for example, when he was signed for a relegation dogfight. This time around, it's clear that the stability of the club is the #1 priority, and if that means missing out on players, so be it - they can't have had the mentality we want anyway.
Apparently Benfica were insisting on a guarantee that Krovanovic would play a certain number of matches. We could never agree to that given our policy that players earn the shirt and keep it by performing. Bilic, being Croatian, may well be comfortable with Benfica's stipulation, since he has probably followed his fellow countryman's development from early on. Also, it being the Championship rather than the EPL would make agreeing to it less of a risk.
