Exactly, Cromer. As DF says: As DF says: "It's clear Turnbull has teed up some exciting future prospects and has plenty of options but he is still at the start of his journey with plenty to prove, with the lower reaches of the Scottish Premiership arguably well short of Championship standards in England. Yet with City showing their nous on the youth development front during Farke's reign, he could well see the Canaries as a very sensible step in his development."
It may be the Scottish sun - but it's still the bloody sun Getting ahead of itself on Turnbull as per usual. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sp...urnbull-complete-norwich-move-agreeing-terms/
Try £15m!! However, that report has been refuted by the Daily Mail today and Sky Sports claim United are now stepping-up their interest in Aarons after struggling to agree terms with Palace for Wan-Bissaka. The 19-year-old was excellent for Norwich City last season as he won the EFL Young Player of the Season award after helping the Canaries win the Championship and seal promotion to the Premier League. The England U19 international would cost around £15m, according to The Sun, so he would be significantly cheaper than Wan-Bissaka
Interestingly, there's no mention of David Turnbull on the Southampton NewsNow site, so if they are interested, they are certainly keeping it quiet.
Someone pointed it out to Chris Goreham on twitter, his response was that it couldn't be as bad as "Russell, to Martin, back to Russell Martin" from a few years back.
I still can't find any headlines in NewsNow linking anybody other than us to David Turnbull. Here's a search for all articles with his name: https://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/?search=David turnbull&lang=en&searchheadlines=1 There is one story speculating that he might be loaned back to Motherwell if he signs for us: www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/david-turnbull-squad-number-teaser-16548242
It's the absolute height of transfer speculation, but you don't move a player from number 28 to 7 if you expect him to be leaving the club permanently in a few weeks.
Looks like Turnbull is going to Celtic after all if this is true: www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/david-turnbull-celtic-back-transfer-16551537
BBC now have an article suggesting he's about to sign a 4 year deal with Celtic, so looks like one that got away.
There was always something hinky about this Turnbull story. "Strange days indeed -- most peculiar, mama"
Matt Clarke looks like he could be going from Pompy to Brighton. That's a shame. I really wanted him! Although he is an ex Ipswich academy kid...
Although I would have liked us to sign him, I'm not sure he's got the right attitude to fit in with the rest of the squad. and as FML says, it's not a position where we need cover. I'm still hoping that SB will lower his insane asking price for JR.
My qualms involved taking around £4m out of the budget for a player who wouldn't play much this year in a position we have well covered. He could well be a prospect for the future but he's only had less than a full season's experience. I agree about how he might not have fitted our club ethos and wholeheartedly commit to the team, a bit like a Redmond or Pritchard, and that could have a detrimental effect overall. What we have is special and we need to preserve that, which is also why I'd also like to see Rhodes back in the fold.
Obscure rumour time: https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/liga-nos/benfica/detalhe/krovinovic-perto-do-norwich Krovinovic to sign on a "medium-term loan" (thanks Google translate) from Benfica. 23 year old attacking midfielder: https://www.transfermarkt.com/filip-krovinovic/profil/spieler/261988
I'm not so sure, if he is as hotter prospect as the press and our interest would have us believe, it will be a real shame to miss out on him (If we do, it could just be the ltest in paper talk and his agent winding up his terms). Our policy is clear and he fitted the bill, we would not offer that sort of money lightly. Our squad is good and whilst I would like to see some players come in who will trouble the starting XI right from the off, he is the sort of young hot prospect that we will continually seek, for the near future or even the now if they show the required skills and application. I don't expect he has a bad attitude otherwise I really don't see Webber looking at him, leave alone bidding for him in the first place. He like anyone quite rightly wants to explore his options and maximise his pay. With Celtic he gets to win a trophy or two, play in at least European qualifiers all whilst presumably having a better chance of playing for the first XI than with us. He is young and if he impresses then after a season or two of shooting fish in the SPL barrel, he will get a bigger move to a higher quality league, maybe even the PL without the need for loans. Bah!
