David Turnbull apparently! C.£3m Out of left field. Can’t say I’d heard of him. A pure guess but based on height and positioning, it looks like he’d be challenging Stieps for that number 10 cum target man role which seems to be a new invention https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48685494
Completely out of the blue but seems likely as it's the BBC. Seems like future planning for older players. He can play AM, WL or CM and if Celtic offered £3m he must be worth that. Very good scoring rate at 15 goals in 32 matches.
Turnbull also being reported to have some sort of love for the club, back in 2015 after the Wembley play off win he tweeted “C’mon Norwich ”
Another BBC article about Turnbull: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48096622 His stats are definitely reminiscent of 17-18 Maddison!
One that got away: Sonny Kittel, https://www.abendblatt.de/sport/fus...Kritik-Poker-Verhandlungen-Transfermarkt.html
HAVE WE SIGNED A STRIKER YET?? BAH!! And WTF is this bullshit about - he could just as easily have said 'coached' or 'nurtured'. Pompous ass. https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spo...-davitt-column-transfer-window-plan-1-6113108
I think Paddy's point is that 'nurtured' or 'coached' is the normal route with young players. How often do you hear 'we must be careful about bringing our young players slowly'. Tell that to Jamal, Max, Ben or Todd. 'Hot housed' implies intensive coaching to accelerate the progress of young players and those four players show that it works. Suddenly we're the go to place for young players who want that accelerated progress themselves rather than coming on as sub in the occasional cup game.
The video of Turnbull's goals is worth watching: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48685494 I particularly like the shot with his right foot that comes off the bar only for him to put it in the net with his left foot. Great stuff! According to Vital Football, a deal could be close: "Norwich were rumoured to be lurking, and it was just rumours (on Twitter), but according to the Daily Record, Turnbull will discuss terms on a transfer to Carrow Road today (Wednesday), after Motherwell accepted a £3m bid from the Canaries."
Someone called Dan Adshead has joined NCFC from Rochdale - seems more like an Ipswich signing https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2019/june/danadsheadjoinsnorwich/
Turnbull apparently traveling south for talks today. If his Celtic negotiations are anything to go by (and faithfully reported ....) He wanted £20k p/w, not the £12k p/w Celtic were offering. I'd be surprised if we're even offering as much as Celtic to be honest, so this transfer might still hit a snag.
Newcastle allegedly interested in our U23 'keeper Jon McCracken. Dave Freezer's take is that this is likely McCracken's agent stirring up things ahead of contract talks. Sounds like the player is progressing well, and has the all-round game a modern GK needs. Given Newcastle's horrendous squad situation, uncertainty around their manager and ownership - I'm not sure a second choice U23 goalkeeper is going to be high on their priorities. Newcastle's squad situation is interesting: Out of the squad of 25 for last season (via Newcastle Chronicle): Kenedy, Antonio Barreca and Salomon Rondon have returned to their parent clubs Mo Diame has been released, Joselu is set for La Liga Rob Elliot has been told to find a new club Isaac Hayden wants to leave Sean Longstaff, Ayoze Perez and Jonjo Shelvey are attracting real interest from other clubs Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin are working back from serious injuries Then is the small matter of the seven players who have returned to Tyneside after loan spells - and what their futures hold, an answer which of course could change under a new manager. Achraf Lazaar, Rolando Aarons, Henri Saivet and Jack Colback seem to have no future under Benitez Jacob Murphy and Dwight Gayle don’t appear to be in the picture for the first team Obviously it's still June, but early contenders for a slow start to the season - with a visit to Carrow Road GW2?
