Pick the bones out of this little lot - subject to wage demands and quick, seamless integration into DF's set-up of course. https://www.skysports.com/football/...remier-league-players-released-in-summer-2019
A review of transfer activity following previous promotions to the top flight from MFW. Only Lambert comes out of it relatively unscathed http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...promotions-gone-by-have-clearly-been-learned/
Cromer - very comprehensive list of leavers. Is there anybody listed who could realistically be a target for us?
Andy's article sums up previous responses to signing players for the PL perfectly. The emphasis on young and hungry players by Lambert easily proved the best approach compared to the piecemeal approach by both Worthington and Hughton (who paid far too much attention to the pundits). I decided against plowing through the list of released PL players for this reason. SW and DF have done well with their recruiting so far and Roberts is a good start to this window. I suspect that the emphasis will shift to overseas players when that window opens on Tuesday with the likes of the following possibles already rumoured: Mehdi Zeffane RB/WL (Rennes) FT (26) Daniel Opare RB (Antwerp) £1m? (28) Kwasi Wriedt S (Bayern) 22 gls £3m (22) Max Philipp S/AM (Dortmund) 10gls (25) Kostas Fortounis AM (Olympiacos) £? (26) Opare is the only one over 26 and that or Villa offering more cash may go against him. If not these, things should liven up on the rumour front anyway.
It's good seeing our current players being rewarded with new contracts, pretty sure this time last year Fulham kicked most of their players out the door.
We'll find out next May which of the two tacks is / was the most effective - although I think we know already
To be fair, some of those players on the list could very well be Webber type targets. Some young players released, now with a point to prove who obviously had the promise to be on PL club books. Trouble is, to you or I those names mean little or nothing, to Webber, there might be gold in that there list. Bah!
Domagoj Vida, Croatian defender. http://sportwitness.co.uk/norwich-city-wolves-fight-defender-canaries-offered-e10m/
No chance what so ever. He's a Champions League type veteran. Not only is it not our profile of player. His wages would total more than our squad.
Meanwhile the realities of our 'cash rich' situation have been revealed by SW, making the £20m budget look very real: https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/webber-on-finances-1-6096320 The fact is the first step is to convert to a PL wages scheme through automatic salary rises and bonuses for all of those who made it possible and well deserved too, as SW says. Then there's paying back the £5m loaned to the club for the Colney improvements, which will be an asset far into the future. Long term thinking rather than desperate gambles.
Vincent Thill - the next 'Madders' off the rank? https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/canaries-transfer-rumours-vincent-thill-1-6097098
Ah! The Thill of the chase eh? Believe the international window opens tomorrow (June 11th) so Webber & co will be able to make their signings from the Bundesliga
I hadn't heard of this guy but i've watched a couple of highlight reels and he does have a touch of the Madders about him, very left footed it appeared though, loves a long shot and very agile with that ability to turn quickly. Apparently Bayern Munich were looking at him a few years back, but last year he went on loan to a club in the 3/4 division so i'm not sure what that says about him?
Steady hand on the Thill. Players from the lower leagues in Germany seen to have untapped potential. That loan move doesn't worry me.
Caught this on Youtube, didn't we sign a player from a german 2nd tier side a few years back? - Onel Hernandez, hasn't done too badly has he? can't remember what league players like Trybull & Zimmermann were playing in when they signed for us but they've not done too badly either. Webber & co have picked up some real Gems in the last few years, here's to them picking up some more.
