I liked SW quoting this: "Invest your time in the route rather than the fruit". Like McNally, he's driven by the long term perspective rather than taking any gambles on short term success. His other aim, not mentioned here, is 'incremental improvement', focusing on the small changes along the way which, once totalled, contribute to consistent success. His in depth knowledge of every aspect of the game backs up so much of what we do now.
It looks like head is ruling heart where Rhodes is concerned: "First of all, we never had the option to buy him, in writing. We couldn't agree that last summer so we didn't have it. It was just a straight forward loan. So it's not like we've tried to renegotiate that, it never existed. It's a difficult one with Jordan because he did so well for us, on and off the pitch. When we talk in terms of the cultural architects within the group, which we've spent a lot of time developing, that's so important, that people get what we want to be.He was an unbelievable leader in that and people will never - unless you're in the building every day - appreciate what he gave to this club - in terms of other than the important goals he scored, which were there for all to see. So if there was a way we could bring him back that would be great but at the same time, he's 29, he's got two years left on his contract at Wednesday, their valuation of him last summer was outrageous and that will be pretty high again. So it's a really difficult deal for us to do. We've got a really small budget and to go and spend a lot of that on a 29-year-old who has a pretty high salary, which is well documented, that would be tough - for someone who was a number two striker, in the end, in the Championship." Doesn't look likely then. SB can pay his salary.
That's exactly what I wanted to hear on the JR debacle. If SB wants him off the payroll, be realistic re his valuation!! #simple
With Gary Hooper's contract at Wednesday expiring at the end of June, and their main striker this season, Steven Fletcher, already 32, I would have thought Wednesday would see Jordan as a valuable asset, albeit an expensive one. You would think Bannan, Forestieri and Rhodes could form a pretty potent threesome in this next season's Championship.
Remarkably frank there from Webber, surprised at that. For sure you can argue it's a negotiating tactic to put pressure on Wednesday, but equally it sounds very much like "thank you and goodbye"
Ciaren Jones, the young CB who has been linked with Liverpool, West Ham, etc, has gone on loan to Eastbourne Borough, in the National League South. Quite a contrast from Premier League teams to a loan to the 6th tier!
I love the interview Paddy did with Stuart. SW keeping fans informed as much as possible. It shows real thoughtfulness on Stuart's part.
I'm not sure but tend towards JMF's view that we could be interested if the price is right. SW says he wants him but not at the price they're asking for, considering he's 29 and this will, in all probability, be his last contract. If the price becomes realistic, then we could be interested, but if it doesn't we're not.
Another player I loved, that I had a slim hope of a loan, looks way beyond us again. https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footba...battle-man-united-for-reece-james_360767.html I think Chelsea would be mad to sell him. Even as youth player for 15M. That is cheap. I'm pretty sure he is future Premiership and England player.
Just read that Roberts signed a two year extension with the Mancs before coming here, so we know where we are I guess.
Tottenham are being linked with a £72m swoop for Maddison. Wonder what our sell on % is for him. At 10% it would come to a very useful £5m for us
I guess IF they win tonight, they'll have plenty of cash in the kitty!!! That's a HUGE profit for Leicester!!
I'm soooo pleased for him - he REALLY was a different class to the rest of the squad last season and by moving to Leicester first and getting the chance to show what he could do in the PL, rather than go to a 'top six' club then hardly getting a chance to play. #alessonforourcurrentcropofyoungsters Cromer, but I like to see JM doing brilliantly. .
Don't apologise, if there's a NCFC sell-on windfall to be had, let him progress to the highest level attainable
I’d actually rather see him stay at Leicester for another year, I like the young squad that they are building there! Still happy to receive the sell on money if they do cash in though. But can’t see Rodgers wanting to sell him
Dortmund have told City Loanee Felix Passlack he can leave them this summer https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spo...passlack-told-he-can-leave-dortmund-1-6083983 Would you want to see him back at Carrow Road after we let Pinto go or sign someone else as cover for Aarons?
Yes, he would be good cover for Aarons and if he 'cuts the mustard' in the PL (IMO he will quite easily), then the vultures will circle in January!!!
