If he improves/impresses at Shrewsbury in the same way as Godfrey did ..... I seem to remember that the Shrewsbury manager at the time when Godfrey was there left for a BIG club!!
Strange someone took him on loan with his injury record. They can't be paying all his wages? Either none of his wages or pay as he plays?
I doubt Louis is on high wages, but there could be a split payment and we'll pay his wages if there's any injury lay-off.

I read that too . Seems surreal that we penny pinch on continental players for nominal fees then apparently made a bid of €20m plus for that French lg2 striker and apparently agreed €14m for Amadou now €14m for Butland. I would have thought that the €3m plus loan fee for Ralph may lead to a permanent move if he gets into the first team and plays well.
I don't get this Butland rumour. When we played Stoke in the PL in 2016 (I think that was our first home game that season), he was superb, but IMO, he has not performed well for Stoke in recent seasons, but that could be because Stoke's defence had been poor and why bring in Fährman for a reported £3M loan and then blow a large chunk (for us) of our next transfer budget?? #confused
A once great player, not in the best of form linked with City perhaps to reignite his career? That doesn't sound familiar ........well not when a large fee is quoted. Bah!
The only thing I would say (while I agree that the Butland rumour is likely crap) is that I do think our club’s best signings have all been players who have struggled for form (or with attitude) at one time or other - Pukki, Leitner, Zimmermann, Vrancic, Krul, even Buendia apparently had his issues - these are players who haven’t just had it all gifted to them, they’ve shown early talent and then they’ve been knocked down, had to fight to get back to form, have developed a great attitude due to their struggles. That’s not to say Butland is one of those, but I do think his story - early quality, then dip in form or attitude or some sort of injury, before recovering is exactly the sort of player we will keep looking at.
Are we still able to sign players that do not have a contract? P.s. not thinking about signing Dorrans, more whether there might be any centre backs out of contract available should we need someone
Dion Dublin has just finished filming homes under the hammer . He could play central defence or even striker in an emergency.
Look out! https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/09/...ving-for-ben-godfrey-looking-more-and-more-l/ Seeing as he grows in stature with each game played he must be worth circa £30m by the time the next window opens?
