Captain as you suggest, in today's "Thoughts From The Manager" Felix says that Kiraly has been brought in as a back-up/support to the younger keepers. " Our most recent signing Gabor Kiraly is a welcome addition to our squad. He has a world of experience having played here in England, both in the Premier League and the Championship, and also in the Bundesliga. He has been brought in to support and develop our young goalkeepers, thus adding more stability to this position. Having said this, and knowing how ambitious he is, I am sure that he will be fighting to be our starting keeper." Also from that article: " One should understand, that we simply cannot irresponsibly buy players at inflated prices, an example of this being the price of 12 million pounds quoted to me for a top Championship goalkeeper." My guess is Marshall from Cardiff? Anyway, we only really need one thing now which is an experienced midfielder. Parker is so important to our team (both in terms of experience and because we lack any other defensive minded midfielders since Tunnicliffe was exiled) and Fotheringham is just not up to covering such a key position. Or we could play Tunnicliffe. Who knows?
Maybe the young uns are better than him? They probably have bought in to FM's ideas better. Stockers might not have been able to lose the kilos asked of him? Loads of unanswered questions but the 2 keepers have done well so far.
I've already said my piece on Stockdale and whilst I agree that we should have had our plan in place before selling him, I don't have a problem with him leaving. Most of our defensive issues this season were much worse last year with Stockdale; I don't think Joronen/Bettinelli/Kiraly is really any worse than Joronen/Bettinelli/Stockdale going forward.
All rumour of course but the tale is that David had a bust up with our goalkeeper coach, Andre Lenz, early on in pre-season training.
In today’s press conference Felix said he wouldn’t speak about transfers until after the Cardiff game. However, he allluded to 2 or 3 more experienced players coming in adding (quite unbelievably in my view) "I always knew the young players weren’t ready from the first day." He also confirmed that he was working on deals for ’some’ players to leave the Club.
I think that may have been taken a little out of context. I think he means not good enough on their own, they need some experienced players there too. I hope that's what he meant anyway.
Felix on the Club site after today's game against Cardiff: “We have some players who will leave and then I need new players. I’m sure we will sign two or three new players at the beginning of next week and then I can tell you my best team. I think [Kostas] Mitroglou will go but I don’t know, I’m not the man who contacts the clubs. I know only a little bit more than you.”
I suspect Transfer deadline day will be a bit of a merry go round waiting for the clubs to buy in before selling/loaning their players to us. Anyone got info on how the loan system works in the League Divisions ?, ie number of players allowed, when the loan window closes etc
Apparently we're looking at two championship based players, Leeds striker Matt Smith and Watford midfielder Lewis McGugan. I think McGugan would be a brilliant signing, and reports say he's had a fall out with the Watford manager so Watford could be easy to deal with. he's proven in this league and has always looked a decent player whenever I've seen him, he also has a good scoring record for a midfielder which would be useful as at the moment we probably lack that sort of player. Matt Smith I'm not so sure about, I'd rather stick with the strikers we have than bring him in. We already have Woodrow, Dembele, Hugo and Taggart (when fit) to play with McCormack. Unless a striker of real quality who could make a big difference became available to us then I don't see the need to add another striker. Obviously Magath must think we lack a bit of height up top but I don't think Smith would be the right sort of signing for us.
He's gone - "The Club can confirm that Konstantinos Mitroglou has joined Olympiacos on loan until 30th June 2015. The Greece international striker returns to his former club having initially joined Fulham in January 2014. Injuries limited his impact at Craven Cottage following his move to London, with the 26-year-old featuring just three times for the Whites. During his previous spell at Olympiacos, Mitroglou won five league titles and three Greek Cups. All at Fulham wish him the best of luck for the remainder of the season" Probably not for the £2.5m we wanted. Who next - Hugo, Kaca, Amorebieta, Ruiz, Zverotic, Tunnicliffe and Cole ??
I believe that Zverotic has a role to play as defensive midfielder similar to Hoogland. It's for Magath to decide though!
Just signed a new contract a week or so ago,so would cost you again Good set piece player or if your playing the big hoof, only 4th choice for us at the moment so we probably would sell and he may keep you up.Wonder if Mcmoney will want away in Jan as its starting to look like you aint going up and he says that's where he wants to be next season at the latest.
Good news, hopefully the news of him signing a new contract will put us off signing him. It's a bit early to be ruling out any teams chances of promotion, a good run of wins in this league and you can be right back up challenging. To be honest, McCormack has a much better chance of getting premier league football in the next couple of seasons with Fulham than he ever did with Leeds.
Well given the PL payments that should be the case, but as your 5pts behind us already and the league don't lie you are currently 1 of the worst teams in the league.I'm not so sure.People are starting to think you may do a Wolves and not seen anything to make me think otherwise, kids dont get you promotion.
