And Turkish papers are back in with the story that Bryan Ruiz is off to Besiktas - for 6m euros. Source: http://www.fotomac.com.tr/besiktas/2014/07/27/o-simdi-kartal
Although I thought Ruiz was a W. O. S. i thought we could have got a little more for him. Still at least another one of JOLs expensive failures gone.
I think both transfers will be impacted by the fact the player only has one year left on their contract. Unfortunately, we won't find a Hull to come along and double the players value (ala Snodgrass). Disappointing 24 hours, certainly.
Now it’s Hugo Rodallega and the continuing reports that he’s going to River Plate. Today he is quoted as saying: "I've been in English football for five years so I see that a transfer could be something important for the owners and me." Why keep playing him in friendlies then, I don't understand why Magath would keep playing him in front of other strikers, if he is not part of his plans. It seems not playing Stockdale was because he was going to be transferred.
The difference would seem to be that we were not actively trying to sell Hugo, but River Plate approached us. My only concern is that the new season is very close and we still have not established the spine of our team.
Confirmation that Ashkhan Dejagah has gone - allegedly for £5m which arguably is good business. From the playing perspective though it's a shame. Although if one was to be unkind, he only came good (for a number of speculative reasons) towards the end of the seasonand then only as an impact sub. please log in to view this image "The Club can confirm that Ashkan Dejagah has joined Al-Arabi on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee. The winger departs Fulham for Qatar following two years in South-West London, during which time he made 49 appearances and scored six goals – several of which were spectacular efforts in last season’s battle against relegation. Upon Dejagah’s departure from the Club, Manager Felix Magath said: "Having spoken with Ashkan, we decided in the best interest of both Fulham and himself, that he would leave the Club. During his time with us, he made some good appearances and scored some memorable goals. However, we decided to part ways. It will always be our policy to have players who are committed to the Club and have a desire to work for the common goal." Everyone at Fulham would like to thank Ashkan for his efforts during his time at the Club, and wish him the best throughout his career."
Bit of an odd statement at the end. Obviously he did not want to be at Fulham and that was the case then he is best out. Good luck to him - not many left now !
If as suggested he didn't want to stay and we got £5 million then we can't have any complaints really. He would have been one of the best players in the league but he's not irreplaceable. Good luck to him. Now hopefully we spend that money on a decent centre mid.
I have a feeling that most of the players that left, inclusive of our captain and exclusive of Stockdale, had no desire to continue in the Championship!! Oh well, their loss!
A few mumblings on social media about us lining up a bid for Oliver Norwood. 23 year old centre midfielder currently at Huddersfield Town. Full Northern Ireland international, formerly of Manchester United. Has Championship experience and lots of room for development. I wouldn't be disappointed to see this one happen.
Surely that doesn't make sense for Stockdale, who has gone to another Championship club. All his public comments suggested he was well and truly up for the fight as well. I suspect in his case it's Felix's call rather than a reluctance to stay on his part. I agree entirely with about the others though.
All I know about him is what you just said, FI, but he sounds like he fits the profile of what we're needing.
Mitroglou apparently not interested in a move to Turkey. He is willing to work hard and prove himself in England...
The latest story is Bordeaux and for 7m euros. That's a heck of a drop - wonder if Lamine Sane is involved in the deal?
Ah Bordeaux it was yes, not sure how I got those two mixed up. We definitely shouldn't take a 5m hit. Play him if we can't get near what we paid for him. Unless of course, as you suggest, we get a player to make up the difference.
I have said it before we need to purchase quality or get a good loanee from a prem club. Still it could be worse we could be supporters of the asset stripping saints.
