There is also the difficulty with others who have the wrong glasses on Punchdrunk. Not everything at home park is bright green but then again it isn't all black either. If you want somebody to fail or in this case be gone then nothing whatsoever they do will be good enough or indeed enough of anything. If however you look at all things individually with an open mind then who knows, things might look different in some cases. I don't remember the entire green army going wild at Sturrock's signings first time around who went on to destroy the field. Then again I don't remember the green army enthusing about much over history. Think it's in the breeding.
No, was the other rock of Malta Sensible....noticed Strait Street is making a comeback but not The Gut of the old days . Now being revamped with chic bistros and wine bars etc, makes Valletta a night time venue again as after 30yrs or so it's been rather drab for a capital city...
Never did Malta Hp although have seen plenty of cheep long stay holidays for Old folk in the winter months so might give it a go one day.
Matt Parsons has revealed that John Sheridan felt he couldn't risk offering him another contract because of a persistant thigh injury. A shame really ,I felt that Parsons had shown all the signs of being a good wing/back and could of offer something different for Argyle.
That is a pity for him and for the team I think. Maybe he'll be available on a "paid when fit" basis if he doesn't find another club. Not nice for him but at least it would give him a chance to prove Sheridan wrong.
Matt Lecointe has signed a one year contract. River Allen & Aaron Bentley have both signed their first Professional contracts for the Pilgrims.
Harping back to the departure of Parsons, Sheridan has made the decision to dump him after he suffered continual injuries during his spell at the club. Clearly he doesn't want deadwood eating up the wage bill and some might see that as a hard-hearted decision. We may never know if the decision was right, unless we see Parsons having a long run of games at another club. Even then, it will only be the wrong decision with the benefit of hindsight: Sheridan has to call it now on the evidence he has now. The question I have though is whether Carl Fletcher would or even could have done the same thing? Being closer to the players, would he have been more sympathetic but ended up lumbering us with a long-term injured player?
Strong rumours that Reid is on his way to Bristol City and expected to sign on Monday. Makes a lot of sense that one. Firstly he is on a free and secondly he comes from Bristol so is a local boy. Hope not but think so.
You won't get a lot of sympathy for the "spend spend spend" theory on here punchdrunk. Consensus has pretty much always been to keep within budget and not repeat the Admin thing again. Just because somebody else might want to offer Reid more than we would doesn't make it doing it on the cheap. The boy is from Bristol for a start so even if the wages were matched I suspect he would still go for Bristol if it's on offer.
Plus, for anyone not entirely concerned with grinding axes, Bristol City seem to have finished 12th in League 1 last season with average attendances of 12,000. Call me crazy, but I think that could be a factor.
Ben Purrington has signed an improved contact that will keep him here until 2016.....that's a good deal for him an Argyle.
Nothing to do with him being local but considering his age I thought he did quite well when given his chance. Every player gets taken apart by some player or other at some point. Rochdale were one of the better sides I saw last season so not wholely surprising it was one of their's. Producing local talent isn't a cheap option at all it makes perfect commonsense. Every single club in the lower divisions tries to find youngsters to bring on and eventually sell on. Most wouldn't survive without it.
Seven players were offered new contract for next season at the beginning of May. Two have not yet taken up their offers.....they are Durrell Berry who has recently started talks with Argyle over his offer..... and Andres Gurrieri who is thought to be in Argentina at present....nothing as yet has been heard from him......their contracts for next season are valid until the end of the month. The five who have accepted their offers are.......Wotton,McCormick,Nelson,Lecointe and Thomas. Also Ben Purrington has agreed an extended contract that keeps him at PAFC until 2016.

Lloyd Jones was sold when we were desperate for money .... I know him and his family and he is doing really well at Liverpool and will be a player playing regularly in the Prem in the not to distant future. No comparison .... playing for Argyle .... playing for Liverpool .... I know which one I'd choose. Look out for his brother Owen Jones .... another good player currently at Argyle !
Even more of a priority to get promotion as maybe the youngsters won't feel so obliged to leave.....Argyle need to get off to a good start for a change next season and hopefully keep Reid & Alessandra with a few more additions, just maybe!....Reckon Pompey will be firm favorites if they keep their squad, really finished strongly last season.
It seems that Durrell Berry has refused the offer of a new contract at Argyle........it has alerted other clubs to his availability.....talk is that he will not find it hard to find another club.
