Tieleman's all yours. Leicester need to sell as he can leave on a free next year and they have serious money issues...think they were spending over 90% of their income on wages <yikes>

Would be decent - much as I like Elneny as a character he's simply not good enough on the ball.
Tielemans wouldn't strengthen out starting 11 much IMO (similar level to Xhaka) but that's the kind of depth/competition we need.

Let's see. Apparently, they've been asking for around £35m - £40m for him. That is way too much for a player with 1 year left on his deal. Based on how they've been dealing with Chelsea's attempts to sign Fofana, it doesn't appear like they're in a rush to sell, even if they do have serious money problems.

But yeah, for Tielemans, anything above £25m and we're overpaying.

The Athletic reckons that a year or two back they were at 105% with regards to wages to turnover... madness. They're at about 85% now but that's partly down to deferred payments from project restart.

Their model may have bee semi-sufficient if they achieved CL for the two years they just missed out on it, though without it it's gonna eventually cripple them I think, they're not gonna constantly be in a position where they can potentially sell a player for £70m+ to reduce immediate concerns and then repeat the process every couple of years or so.

I reckon Fofana's gonna join Chelsea and Tielemans will join Arsenal, the latter probably on deadline day once they cave to the fact it's take £30m now or pennies in Jan/ **** all next summer. Leicester could be in deep **** this season.

Sure but he is worth more than that. Still only 24.

I do think a CM should be a bigger priority than a winger.

On the wide positions we have plenty of players who can cover.
    RW: Saka, Viera, Jesus, Marquinhos
LW: Martinelli, Smith Rowe, Saka, Zinchenko.

Nah. With one year left on his deal, £25m for Tielemans is more than fair, especially considering how underpar he’s been for the last year or so.

As already mentioned, Leicester also have a huge financial black hole at the moment, so how they feel they’re in a position to demand £40m for Tielemans is beyond me. They have no leverage here.

Either they accept a lesser price for him or they lose him on a free next year.

That's the nub of it. Champions League, or lack of it. And the subsequent fall off with their turnover to wages ratio. Remember seeing it with Leeds when O'Leary was there. They bought big, paid big wages, got into the CL and then tanked big time. I'm not sure Lesta will fall that far, but they are defo on the slide.

And with the inevitable loss of Tielemans, Fofana and Maddison (it's a matter of time) an ageing Vardy. They are going to find it increasingly difficult to keep up with teams that are improving like Newcastle, West Ham, Palace, Brighton

Tavares with his 3rd goal in 4 games for Marseille. He is killing it out there for them. Will be interesting to see how his situation develops.

Elneny injured and Partey nursing a difficult injury too, surely this will accelerate the need to reinforce our midfield?

well i did say that the 34m you spent on Viera would have been better spent in purchasing a CM and you can hardly moan that Arteta hasn't been backed .

Depends where we play him and how we plan to utilise him in this system. If he's just a backup to Odegaard, then yeah, it seems a bit pointless.

Nonetheless, reports are now saying we're ramping up talks to sign 21-year old Danilo from Palmeiras. Meant to be quite highly rated. It's risky in the sense that he'll have to adapt quickly if Partey and Elneny are injured for a while, which is a bit unfair on the kid. But let's see.

You could just use ESR as cover for Odengaard (sp) .Where is all the money coming from considering no Euro money ?

UGH Partey, Elneny and Zinchenko injured already - like i've been saying forget wingers it's depth in CM we need!! (How can we afford 60m for Raphina but not Tielemans?)

Really hope they can add someone in the next 48 hours.
(being linked to 20 year old Brazilian Danilo)

Would be a good signing, but not sure we’ve given ourselves enough time to get this done, especially as Villa are very reluctant to sell.
