do we? 19/20 (the gold standard) Gomez played 22 league games, 7 in the CL. Matip played 8 in the league and lovern played 9. We have Gomez, Konate and Quansah. However, who is actually available this January that improves on our 4 remaining CBs? I don't really have a name there to pick out to say yeah he would be great and not only for janu to may but for the next 5 years. This is not IMO like when we has williams and phillips and refused to play them . I think we would play quansah and be ok with it. the issue for me is how do we cope with robbo v tsimikas and trent v nobody. We might be better served casting that net to include what RB is available?
Someone who can play RB or CB is what I wanted this summer too... Especially with Trent going forward, it would be nice if he were covered by someone who knew how to be a RB. Quansah is like a new signing to fill CB, but we have to be careful to introduce him gradually. No doubt he will be first team regular in years to come. Any new signing to fill injury voids better not restrict his opportunity to step up too much.
he wasnt a cb but I can't think of many January loans klopp has made that were worth the time. if he signs for the long term it goes well. "cover" is just "cover" I suppose.
Allison back in training, not sure if ready or not. Mac Allister out for a couple of games. Sounds like Klopp wants to give Matip a new contract.
Alisson, too soon. 17th December is a nice distance away to get him right. We simply do not need him v palace or union. Macallister - endo did ok. not quick but he's doing well to adapt as he can to this level we have gravenberch or jones for LCM - again simply don't need him for this game and we certinaly don't need anyone for union. Matip - that's pure sentiment and being silly. I feel sorry for the lad and everyone loves him at the club but his time to move on was there 2 years ago (he was so poor last year and carrying something again) he time has come and giving him a deal then not wokring on the longer term is being sentimental in the extreme. the man is 32 now and will be 33 next season and fwon't be back til this time next year maybe? My team for palace Kelleher Trent Gomez VVD Tsimikas (based on medical assumptions) Szoboszlai Endo Gravenberch Salah Gakpo Diaz. I might even entertain nunez lw. Konate on bench for a rest imo. He played well v sheff utd but we don't know enough about why he was subbed last weekend.
Matip...32...ACL? Given his injury record, his age and the damage already on his body, it'd be at the full year recovery. He'll be lucky to play top flight anywhere again. He'll be 33 by the time he's allowed to even run again and on his way to 34 before he plays again. Can't see the money men agreeing to pay him for that long to not play, especially as his contract is done. I see retirement in his very near future
put it this way if we got shut of Phillips somehow we could pay matip his ridiculous 65k a week wage and still get a new cb to actually play. why the actually **** we have not sold thst boy or at least free transfered him just to wipe the cost I don't really think a cheap loan for celtic really covers the cost of him not playing ever. anyway we will see gomez konate vvd and quansah are our options for now. Phillips will supposedly be back in January as celtic have no use for him
Expected return of Andy Robertson is January 7th against Arsenal in the FA Cup. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2023/...rtson-fitness-boost-with-expected-return-set/
Jürgen Klopp confirmed Ryan Gravenberch suffered a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
His scan was clear , no serious injury. Jota back in training. Macca out until January, Robbo should be back after New Year
yeah macallister also out means we are down to the bones in midfield and playing arsenal. any positive result at all will be a good one for us
I never hear of injured players getting placenta baths anymore. Was all the rage in the late 90's/early 00's. I guess they've figured out that's a load of new age crap now and moved.on?
probably. same as they've mostly moved on from their Harvey weinstein phases as well. Well except at Newcastle.
Trent out for a few weeks with ‘minor knee ligament tear’ so no specialist first team full backs fit - paper then at the back now.
