    Liverpool injury table:

    Milner - Calf - Return date 12-9-21
Firmino - Hamstring - Return date not set
Minamino - Thigh injury - Return date not set
Neco williams - Ankle - Return date not set
Elliott - "knock" - Return date not set

whats the panic over 5 reserves :) 3 of which wouldn't get a game outside an injury crisis.

firmino can't be banished if he had a hamstring injury and was not available for selection <laugh>

this is the thing about this non story. people don't know but and making crap up. frimino will be injured right through the "band" period which is actually 5 days after thier last game so even the dates given are arse.

Of course you can be banished and injured. You saying players are never injured whilst suspended?

    thats not the point.

You cannot call up an injured player. it would be the height of folly.

We are told he might be out for 2 months. he certinly won't be fit for the game at the weekend nor the CL. So if he is injured how can he also be suspended for not travelling.

the type of suspension is for failure to release the player. It would be the height of stupidity for FIFA to create a situation where a player can be suspended, and then have it challenged and struck off. every club would just declare their players "injured"

or better yet declared uncertified to travel and required the country to certify them,

As it stands i kind of expect all the players to be playing this weekend

the point is that if a player is injured, the international team can still call them up and have them checked by their medical staff. This is to stop clubs taking advantage of saying their player is injured if he isn't and not bother turning up. So a club can choose not to let their player go with feigned inury but the player will have to be suspended for a match.

If they are genuinely injured the club won't care anyway as said player won't be playing

right so now if you have a player with a torn hamstring you'd be fine to stick them on a plane and fly them to wherever to be "assessed"

most reasonable countries do not enforce such lunacy.

in this case the player walked off before half time in a major game so its patently obvious he is injured and continues to be injured.

the thought that you'd let a player sit on a play for 10 hours with a muscle tear for it to cramp up severely and get worse just to be seen by a doctor and then sent right back home to repeat the issue is hilarious mate.

this is not a wee trip down to george's park for a nod.

correct, so you could probably argue firmino shouldn't be affected if it's obvious he's injured.

Was just explaining why theres a rule in place

    The second part <laugh>.

Yep, the rules allow countries to call up a player regardless of injury, up to the country decide.

You've clearly never sat on a plan for 8/12 hours then? you need to treat injuries not force someone to sit in a seat for 8/12 hours each way.

clearly twinges happen. putting a guy with an injury on a plane is crazy.

yeah, i'm sure firmino is going to get an extra muscle injury sitting in his first class seat eating steaks.

Better be careful the other hammy doesn't go ping

Clearly you've not thought this contrary position through.

If you put a player with a tight hamstring, never mind a tear in a confined space having to sit for 12 hours irrespective of the luxury it is going to tighten up.

Then the other aspect of these "rules" only a moron of a manager would use up squad spots taking injured players to their squads.

You.might as well be telling me it's in the rules so brazil can call up pele as well

Again where did I say that.

I'm talking about a country doing that ridiculous stunt bobby has said the could and why would they reduce their squad by picking injured players.

The example I gave is relevant. Firmino would have been as much use as pele if they did call him up. Just cos a country could doesn't mean they would be in their right minds doing it.

    STAND BACK!!!

right, I'll just pull out my FIFA handbook :D

"Regulations Fifa world cup 2022 - preliminary competition"

Section 19.4 "A total of 23 players shall be named on the start list (11 players and 12 substitutes)" (page 20)

The folly of pulling a player 9320km to assess them for injury is clearly lost on you lot <laugh>

the concept of a 23 player squad submission should not be.
