Injury news: Origi Reds' only concern ahead of Swansea
    James Carroll

Jürgen Klopp has reported that Divock Origi is Liverpool's only minor injury concern heading into this weekend's clash with Swansea City, though he could yet be fit for the trip to the Liberty Stadium.

The striker sustained a kick to his foot during training this week and while the problem isn’t serious, the Reds will assess his fitness to determine whether he can be involved against the Swans.

Addressing journalists on his squad’s current condition at his pre-match press conference at Melwood, Klopp said: “[There’s] not too much news, nothing really to talk about.

“It’s been a normal training week with a couple of little things here and there, but in this moment there is not really somebody in doubt.

“Maybe Divock. He got a little knock on his foot and we had to do a few more assessments, but in the end it is nothing major.

“Maybe it’s a little bit too short a period until the game, but we have to see. That’s all at the moment.”

Nathaniel Clyne is set to join Liverpool team-mate Adam Lallana in missing England's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Interim Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate will name the squad tonight for the games against Malta and Slovenia next week.
And Clyne, who featured in Liverpool's 2-1 win at Swansea City on Saturday, is expected to miss out with a knee injury.
Southgate will already be without Lallana, who limped out of the game at the Liberty Stadium in the first half having injured his groin.

Liverpool confirm Danny Ings requires knee surgery
    James Carroll @James_Carroll84
Liverpool Football Club can confirm Danny Ings requires surgery on an impact injury sustained to his right knee during the EFL Cup fourth-round tie with Tottenham Hotspur last week.

The problem was picked up when attempting to make a challenge in the closing stages of the game at Anfield - and Jürgen Klopp has explained to supporters it’s likely to mean the Reds are without the striker’s services for a period of between seven and nine months following the operation.

The procedure, which will be performed today in London, will correct the damage sustained from the challenge to the cartilage in his right knee. It is not in the same knee in which the 24-year-old suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in October 2015.

Klopp said: "To say we are gutted would be an understatement; he is such a great boy and has worked so hard that he deserves better luck than this.

"It is typical of Danny's personality, on and off the pitch, that he picked up this injury to his knee when courageously trying to win the ball back for his team by making a tackle.

"But it is this same personality that means he will come back as good and as strong from this latest setback as he has done in the past.

"I'm told the likely lay off is anywhere from between seven to nine months. He is mentally strong, physically strong and will have the very best treatment and rehab possible to make sure when he returns he is ready to play for us at the level we know he is capable of."

LFC over for him? It'll be 2 years (almost) since he had regular football, going to take a huge toll on him. Guessing he'll be loaned out next season to regain fitness and if he doesn't recover fully could be a loan-to-buy situation.
Club will move on to someone new as well, and if things are looking dicey for Sturridge it looks worse for Ings

That's our title hope over then.

Yeah. Sell him . And Studge. And Origi.

Buy a decent striker or two with fully functional legs. Shame, I really liked Ings but we know how it goes from here.

unfortunately for him it is difficult to see much of a future with us now. He will be lucky to do next seasons pre season and it is likely someone will be brought in in the transfer window(s)
shame but at least these days the players are very well recompensed
