Why should I apologise. Is it because you've just tried to take the higher ground to make me look stupid? You were the one who started the personal insults. And its sad that you have to come on a website like this to belittle people. Why are there so many people who come on this forum to swear and insult people?? Only once in a blue moon do we ever get decent football conversation on here, which is what this forum is all about if not it's just sad. I would happily argue with people about football without the petty insults but some people on here just appear to be c**ts!!
The problem with that is football fans are a very hard bunch to please and not very patient. I remember sitting watching Ipswich in the season when we nearly got promoted under Royle and there was a large section of fans around me who weren't happy with him and saying we were crap!!
Leadboots, is clearly not going to re-sign, that is why we have not had a peep out of jewell on the subject the past 2-3 days. jewell knew he was going to have to play him today after Hyam & Martin picked up injuries towards the end of the week, jewell would not want the start of a mutiny on the final home game of the season.........oops 0-3...mutiny in the Sir bobby stand at the end of todays game....!
Listen I am with you that I think some of the younger players should be given a chance but I'm not going to say we should sack the manager for that reason. Every manager before him that I can remember was guilty of the same offence. There are so many times i remember under Burley, under Royle, under Magilton, under Keane where people were saying why doesn't he play the youngsters, infact make sure you're sitting down.... Keane probably gave youngsters more of a chance than most in alot of occasions.
A lot of fans can be unhappy with what's going on at the club but still go to matches regardless. If you piss the majority off though people will take it into their own hands to force a change. Football is en entertainment business and if punters don't get value for money or can't see that things are going in the right direction then problems will arise.

ptc - I honestly admire your optimism but believe me mate you are on a hiding to nothing on here! The tide has turned against Jewell as he lurches from one disaster to another. You know what, I had the misfortune to witness us play Cambridge Utd in a pre-season friendly with all our new signings playing. We were 2 down inside the first 10 minutes and were outplayed for lager parts of that game by a bloody conference side! We clawed back to a draw but Cambridge were all over us! That set the pattern for this season and I haven't seen much from Jewell this season that has made me think that he is the man to get us promoted. Time has run out for him, football is a hard cut-throat business and he is just relying on the fact that he got 2 teams promoted over 10 years ago! Football has moved on and his utter incompetence in tactics and so on has found him out.

Clearly I picked the wrong night to be on here. All the pessimists are out tonight. I don't think the tide has turned against Jewell. I think more than anything people have become inpatient at the last 4 wasted years and that we haven't got anything to show for it and that we are further away from promotion than we were when ME first took over. I always seem to fight against the tide. I had people arguing with me (mainly Spanish) because I said be careful what you wish for in wanting to give Jim the sack!! I had people arguing against me when I said I wasn't happy about Keane being appointed and i wanted him sacked at every available oppertunity (that was mainly Spanish). And now i get a barracking because I say that Jewell needs more time (I thought me and Spanish were going to agree on this)!!
It's never the wrong night ptc, and people are allowed to be pessimistic when they see that expectations they have for the club are not being even closely met.
I wouldn't mind betting that the faceless one was at Portman Road today to witness that shambles and to see for himself the level of discontent at the final whistle. Its season ticket renewal time and after today's garbage performance I can't see many waiverers erring on renewing!
All we want is to have a competitive team that believes in its youth policy and has a coherent plan for future improvement and progression..... Not too much to ask for is it!
I would like to think that the realists are on here tonight I had a group of lads in front of me today, (clearly not regulars) who thought the whole ITFC experience today was a complete joke, they even tried to get one of their number to run on the pitch naked in the second half, they said "its not as if we are ever gonna come back" just about says it all really.!
ptc The impatience gathered over the last few years would quickly disappear if people saw progression.
I agree with you on pretty much everything, I'm hoping to contribute more over the next few months. I also think that sacking Jewell would not achieve much, he's shown in the past that he can get teams promoted and keep that team in the premier league. There's not many managers out there who are available who are going to do that much of a better job in my opinion.
Just ask any Sheffield Wednesday or Derby fan what they think about Jewell's time as their manager! He is a footballing dinosaur, tactically inept and his team selections are just plain bizzare! If we can't do any better than Jewell then there is no hope. I would love to see Steve Coppel as manager or even take a chance on Paulo Di Canio! At least he would instill some bloody passion in the football unlike the brainless shower today!
