What's worse is I honestly don't think he believes a word of what he plays to the crowd...with the exception of the misogyny.

Trump is doing really well purely because there is a large Racist and bigoted contingent in the US.
For years the Republicans (who, by and large, are all racist and misogynistic) have been hiding their bigotry under a thin veil of bullshit.
They are angry at Trump for basically throwing off that veil and showing the world what Republicans are actually like.
I think the guy is disgusting on a whole new level, and has the intellect of an Artichoke, but I love that has tapped in to that Republican base who are sick of the veiled racism and want to revel in it. Because, as I said, it shows them all up for what they actually are.

For a guy who doesnt know the difference between the Kurds and the Koods, doesn't even know what the Nuclear Triad is, thinks that "Nuclear" is a new thing and that 75 years ago people fought "hand to hand" (when it was almost 75 years ago exactly that the US dropped Nukes on Japan), and his complete lack of knowledge of almost anything remotely political, including whats happening in the Middle East, why Israel and Palestine fight, and several other things, for him to run for President, and win the GOP nomination (as he likely will), just goes to show how ****ed up and batshit crazy the American right wing is.
For the GOP to be even considered as a viable political entity is shameful, and something for which that entire country who claims to "Lead the Western World" should bow its head for in shame and humiliation.

No, the exact opposite is true, and thats the problem.

Normally you are right, Presidential candidates are bought off by their donors and so are beholden to them when they get into office, and bend over backwards to offer them all kinds of tax breaks and favours.

Trumps campaign is self financed, because he is a billionaire, which means he is beholden to no one other than his ****ed up, misogynistic, fascist mind.
Ordinarily having someone who is free to push the kind of policies he wants, rather than those that favour wall street, would be a good thing, but in the case of Trump its apocalyptically a bad thing, because now there is no one to reel him in and make him behave. The guy is a nut.

Can you imagine Trump on foreign policy, he is the kind of guy who would declare war on Russia because he got into a verbal slanging match with Putin.
