That's what IRBR do best though. DDD for 2010 EBD for 2011 PDRS for 2013 Only cars that weren't meant to be designed around a single solution at the start were the 09 and 12 cars.
It could be, but maybe it's function is the same as the RB8's nose hole. I've suspected for some time that the RB8 hole was for KERS cooling. Perhaps it's just that by removing the hole in the nose they've had to increase the size of a different cooling hole.
Remember they don't want this PDRS too effective in the corners or it will be useless pretty much. They place it where enough air will travel through to stall it on the straight's, but not the corners. Looks like the drivers head will be used as a deflector within corners.
There's also a picture showing a gap behind the vanity panel, so some sort of S Duct like Sauber hidden underneath. please log in to view this image Anderson says IRBR haven't done much, if anything they have done more! Just in case people don't know what an S-duct is: please log in to view this image
How does it work, the red arrow shows air moving up through the nose, and out onto the surface.. How does that help?
Slightly more detail from scarbs here: http://scarbsf1.com/blog1/2012/03/13/analysis-sauber-c31/ In short more downforce at the front.
Got a clarification from scarbs: Craig Scarborough ‏@ScarbsF1 Its a support for the rear beam wing, another element copied from last years Sauber So IRBR pretty much copying Sauber please log in to view this image Sauber use the Ferrari gearbox, but their aerodynamic packaging of the bodywork around the gearbox, make the gear case is more visible. It’s possible to see how Ferrari have followed Williams practice to lower the top of the case to a point below the top wishbone mounting. This wishbone mounts to pylons projecting up from the gear case. This repackaging was partly possible through the repositioning of the springsdampers to low down on the gearbox with the use of pull rod activation. The rear of the upper wishbone mountings also forms a mounting for the beam wing; this large structure emerges from the gearbox and hooks around to mount the top of the beam wing. This looks like a duct, but it’s hard to see how flow could be effectively ducted to the top of the gearbox and then out of the beam wing. Although the rules do have a loophole that allows a small 15cm slot in the middle of the wing, which might help the airflow up out of the centre of the diffuser. But, in my opinion this isn’t a duct, as there’s no evidence of the outlet in the beam wing.
OMG, I feel so stupid: I've never heard of an S-duct! What does the 'S' stand for? I have to say though, that the idea of the Red Bull Goliath stealing from lowly Sauber is quite delicious
Not exactly the prettiest of cars but will no doubt be supper effective. I think McLaren are winning the pretty championship again this year.
I find it funny as well, a team desperate for money out develops the most successful and richest team of the last 4 years lol!

To take on Silver "I can't stop talking about Seb (We're on first name terms ya know)" Arrow in a the worlds first F1 fanboi off. LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!
In my opinion, Red Bull seem more cautious around this launch rather than 'Ha ha! we have something to hide ha ha!' Also I notice Newey couldnt revolutionise this year and instead evolved the old car which seems a bad move to me as everyone else is copying your old car and improving apon it. Red bull nolonger have the edge of being one step ahead
Silver: You know Seb has won-- Slater: Lewis Hamilton. Silver: Let me finish, Seb's always been good at-- Slater: Lewis Hamilton. Silver: Grrrr, Seb can't be beaten when it comes to-- Slater: Lewis Hamilton. Silver: OK THAT'S IT! IRBR HAS DESIGNED SUCH A SOPHISTICATED-- Slater: Lewis Hamilton. Crowd: FINISH HIM! FINISH HIM! Slater: 2008 World Champion. *Silver's down for the count*
Same as I thought: MB "What struck me today was the calm, confident maturity of it all. There wasn't an element of 'we've all been here before, we've all done this before, just get me out of here'. There wasn't any arrogance or over-confidence; they know there's a big reset button been hit, it's a new season and the target is on their back. "They just struck me as very calm, relaxed and confident in a good way." The last time the media downplayed the 2011 RB7 as "small step" in reality they just didn't need to do much and creamed the field when they refined last seasons car.
