Football Ombudsman recommends @HullCity offer 2 fans £100 each as gesture of goodwill http://www.theifo.co.uk/adjudications.html… yet the club refuse to do so.

IFO COMPLAINT REF: 17/12 (Full details of the claim can be found on the link above)

SEASON TICKET PROBLEMS AT HULL CITY

The IFO recommended that, as a goodwill gesture, the Club offers the complainant a reduction of £100 on each membership for the 2017/18 season only. The IFO also recommended that the Club ensure that when selling tickets, they make clear to purchasers that, if choosing the North Stand, there is a likelihood that spectators will stand.

    12. Unfortunately, in response to the IFO recommendation, the Club said that they would not be issuing any compensation to the complainant and, if he wished to re-join the membership scheme, he would have to pay the standard re-joining fee. In accordance with the IFO Terms of Reference, which were set by the three Football Authorities, where an IFO recommendation is not to be implemented, the football body concerned – in this case Hull City – must publish their reasons and their proposed alternative resolution of the issue.

    Conclusion

    13. The IFO has found justified the complaint that the complainant was sold memberships for seats in an area where standing was known to be prevalent, and that he and his wife were accordingly unable to watch matches in comfort. The Club have refused to implement the IFO recommendation and must now publish their reasons.

The fact that a business with a £120m turnover, would rather get a load of bad press than cough up £200, is absolutely incredible.

    Nah. **** off.

I'm all for bashing the ownership where necessary, but this is bollocks. Just move seats and stop whinging you tart. It's not like there's been a lack of empty ones in recent years.

They do seem to be a pair of ****ers, I was more interested in the fact that we'd rather take a load of **** than follow the recommendations of the Independent Football Ombudsman judgement.

I think the club are going to receive negative publicity for whatever stance they take on anything (which is completely self-inflicted), but in this case I'm glad one pair of self-entitled ****ers are standing up against another pair of self-entitled ****ers.

    Some interesting stuff on there

Looking at complaints regarding a match being changed with three weeks notice for by for example

"The IFO therefore recommended to the League that where, other than for matches on the final day of the season, a match is chosen for broadcasting with less than six weeks’ notice of any rescheduling, for no reason other than the desire of a television company to screen it, the League should arrange reimbursement of reasonable evidenced out of pocket expenses for travel and accommodation costs. "

    Get your claims in!...

Having read the IFO document, it does sound like a pair of PL tourists - bought memberships but had never been to the KCOM before? Didn't know the prevalence for standing in North Stand? GTF.

Having said that, yes, the club could and should have just sorted this easily.

The club should get everyone in the north stand to comply with the rules and sit down.

Now as silly as that may seem, the Allams are ****s but not daft and will challenge this on the grounds that standing is not permitted. They will fight this and more than likely win BUT it will cost them loads in goodwill although they don't seem to care much for that.

And that is the reason why the stands and press box are not cleaned, we've bought next to no players, the radio / telly thing is still not fully sorted, you have to queue for ages to get in, wait for ages in the shop on a match day to buy a ticket all because Ehab is busy putting his case together so he doesn't have to pay 2 supporters 100 quid each.

I don't think it will cost them anything in goodwill. It tells anyone that's listening that the North is for standing. The stewards around us have gladly found seats for people who want to sit on the few occasions when somebody has complained.

Some of the young whippersnappers near us sat down during a game. I clipped them round the ear and admonished them

    This.

But also this. I'm surprised by the judgement anyway. I mean are they even allowed to acknowledge that standing is prevalent? I thought clubs had to pretend that the rules are enforced everywhere. Furthermore, who knew there was an Independent Football Ombudsman? I wonder what else they can rule on. Everything about this story is weird.

And this too. It's deeply conerning how much effort they put into petty **** like this. Stuff like the Airco and the groundsman situation, even the name change, were just petty disputes like this that got way out of hand. And it always ends up going to the ultimate legal battle. Rollits must absolutely love them.
