Judging by the letters pages in most newspapers, the majority of English people wished they lived in Stalinist Russia. There was no PC Brigade, no do-gooders, nobody could claim their human rights were being violated (as they had none) and they certainly weren't part of the EU.
You remind me of when the Pittsburgh Pirates in their darkest days had a truly woeful shortstop named Dale Berra (son of Hall-of-Famer Yogi Berra; nickname Boo Boo) whose name came up in a federal investigation into cocaine use in the major leagues. "There's no truth to the rumor that Berra was put on the Federal Witness Protection List, disguised as a major shortstop and stashed at Three Rivers Stadium to keep anyone from ever seeing him..." Yeah, you probably have to be a baseball fan...
Heh, I grew up watching Yogi Bear and Boo Boo. Hanna Barbera's best (after Scooby Doo). Smarter than your average bear!
Used to play Baseball for Croydon Bluejays, won a British Championship with them, beating a team from Hull in the final, had a friend who played for Sutton Braves, and one who played for Crawley Giants
