What would people think about an £8m bid for long?

I'd think that's twice as much as we're offering for Maynard - and he's not twice as good as Maynard.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't turn my nose up at Long, if he plays like last season he'd be great.

But

1. I would prefer Maynard, he just seems to have that extra bit of magic to his game.
2. £8m - despite being a frightening figure for a player who before last season was generally regarded as cack - would probably be rejected, I'm sure it already has been (West Ham).
 
I heard reading want 8m straight up and West Ham offered 5m and 3m in add ons.


I personally would prefer Long to Maynard and its not up to me about cost.

I think Long would be a huge signing <ok>
 
It appears the pressure is put on bert to come up with some news regardless....maybe he offers some ambiguous comment re: long, to keep the pot/ thread going? unless he is sleeping with sven (i would not rule it out) or faz...or is "doing things" with mr. neville ,he cannot be that cock sure of things..educated guess and putting 2 and 2 together?..unlike me..who can see into the souls of all the hierarchy at the king power stadium...but has to respect our communion.........

I know the Neville's and he has a lovely wife and three kids <laugh>
 
No thanks, don't want Shane Long for any money, I just don't rate him. Yeah he scored a few goals last season but Heskey scored 25 one season for Liverpool so it means nothing that he's had one good season!! Also 8 mill is ridiculous for a very average player, I genuinely don't see the difference between Long and Nugent!!
