Why do our fans like to compare present times to past times?? we will never have a manager like alan dicks ever again, or players like sweeney gow, hunter. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!
I really do have real concerns regards fellow fans who still think Del will turn it around,I do respect your opinions, but please give me something to clutch to regards him being able to save us can any one of you explain why or how you think he will turn it around.I really am interested.
Sadly, I see little\no evidence based on his record with us to suggest he CAN 'turn it round'. Comments about SL doing things on the cheap really do amaze me - is £11m PER YEAR cheap in anyone's terms? He may be a rich man but his net worth last year dropped quite a lot and even for him this must be a lot of money. It isn't realistic to expect any business-minded person to throw away this kind of money. He only does so because he loves the club - just like we all do. He must be gutted at the way it is going after all the money he has pumped in. The idea that anyone else would put in even more is laughable. I think the club will stick by Del until Xmas, during which time we play some of the teams around us. The results from those games will pretty much make the decision easy - either we'll go on a run and the pressure will fall away. Or, more likely, we'll fail to beat any of them, be rooted in the bottom 3 and the Board will find the pressure impossible to resist any longer..... At the moment the opinion seems to be split (as reflected in this poll) and I don't think they will act until there is absolutely no choice and virtually everyone can see it is a no-brainer. Sadly, by then, it could be too late.
I'm lost, I really can't believe that there are still those backing Del...I don't understand how far fans want us to sink before anythings done....And can they really see del turning this situation around?? On what basis? NEVER gonna happen IMO....The hole has been dug, leave it to Del for us to fall in it. robin_unreliant SL has gone cheap option, which in the long run, is becoming expensive and if we go down it will become a lot worse. You want a decent sofa you go to a proper funiture shop, not pound stretcher..
I am glad so many of you seem able to predict a rosy future - we sack McInnes and bring in a new quality manager, who just happens to be sitting around waiting for us to come in for him. Luckily he turned down Ipswich, Palace, Bolton and all the other plum jobs that were offered to him. Suddenly results will pick up, the same players turn into championship contenders. Luckily he reads this board all the time, so he posts on here and you lot pick the team for him (as you all know better). We shoot up the table towards safety and away we go. Lets get some reality. Changing Managers does not guarantee success. As we have found out time after time. Only When Lambert (Villa), McDermott (Reading) or Adkins (Soton) come available should we make a move. When someone who has the ability and experience of playing good football AND getting results in the Championship comes available should we do something. Until then I propose we sit tight and pray that all of McInnnes hard work bears some fruit. But prayers are about all we have.
It's why we don't progress Wiz. Easily pleased! Willing to put up with anything! Oh well, it was good while it lasted but I fear it's gonna be all for nothing and back to square one!
I agree, seems like some city fans just accept being 15-20th every season, and ol' del boi is our leader ooo arrrr Which is why we will never progress at this level, maybe it needs a relegation or 2 to really wake some fans up
Lan,if you check my poll on the ' Sports Personality of the Year ' - click on any of the numbers of votes they have got,the names of voters comes up,this can only be done if arranged by the person doing the poll,if they desire it,there is no other way that I know of...(you may already know this)
I am surprised SL hasn't made the choice for us already.......that "blip" at Boro bought him some time thats all. I think he will have until the end of this month to turn it around or its off with his head. Will that be too late though that is the problem. As said above, sell your house without a better house to go to is complete madness imo......we could go a month with someone from the backroom staff in charge and then what? And remember guys, we are Bristol City......in freefall, in debt constantly, in a relegation fight and generaly in the sh1t......who in thier right mind would want to come to us?...hardly a good prospect are we! And don't even mention Louis Carey.......dear god! The whole "should SL step down" debate is, to me, more...much more...scarey than the DM one. Bank rolls us every year without an eyebrow being raised. Pumped millions into the AV saga (not debating that here!) to set us up for the future, he just basicly keeps this club afloat financialy. SL has to stay or as ROD says, step aside Portsmouth, Bristol City are on the way!
I'm starting to regret now making the tongue in cheek comment about Louis Carey becoming manager. What I was trying to say is going on our past record it would not surprise me if the board went that route. More of a comment to everyone be careful what you wish for!! As I said on some thread the other day Wolves fans were just as pissed off with that result as it now means they keep their manager a bit longer! They even asked me if we would consider taking him. And it was one of them who said going down with Mick McCarthy would of been a lot better than they have now. So it was their words to me be careful what you wish for, you could end up with someone like they have.
In for me, how quickly some forget that we actually managed to play some good football at the start of the season... Current problems aside, the one thing that this team has always had the ability to do is to dig itself out of the mire when in trouble, every time, ALL THE TIME which suggests that it is lazy or complacent - whatever you want to say. Further, to say we will be relegated half way through the season after 23/24 games is ludicrous. Take a step back and listen to yourselves... No, that its't good enough but mid table will suffice this year giving Del the chance to ship out the rest of the old guard and get some more players with hunger, desire and ability in. We have half a team to build on in Heaton, Cunningham, Bryan, Baldock and Davis and I think Bates will work out good if he stays together with the newbies coming through The gap in the middle is glaringly obvious but we are having to make do with Danns trying to play in midfield on his own at the moment. My head also hurts as to how people can fail to see what is so blatantly obvious but no doubt, this is just another excuse to some. Thank God I am not appearing in front of you lot for dropping litter, probably be shot... As for SL leaving, are you going to shell out £11m next June then RR - I told you before that without him, the club folds in 12 months and if you can't see that then you invalidate all of your other comments .
Hang on...most of the football played this season has been shocking, clueless, hoofball, dreadful defensive errors, uncreative and totally lacking in passion. A good formula for certain relegation. It's not ludicrous at all to say after 23/24 games the way we're playing that we will go down. The fact is, he's been here over a year and although on paper the players are an improvement, he has FAILED in creating a team worthy of anything other than relegation.
Its like when you improve the efficiency of a boiler, the weak links are the first to give up the ghost. We don't have enough money to fix all the weak links in one go so what do you suggest, we sack the plumber who knows his job or get new parts...? Seems pretty obvious to me...
I've never known a manager to buy players and refuse to play them, bring in loans and not play them.. He is utterly clueless, if the board want to go back to league 1 for 10 more years keep mciness. If they want to have a bit of ambition get in a manager with proven experience and try to fight off this **** run we're on.
