Rankings are all well and good but I expect Spain were more pleased at winning the football world cup than being ranked no.1.
But that's football Stop me - the beauty of cricket and to a lesser extent ruugby is that every international means something. For example the way England beat NZ last month was fantastic because it was a proper game - not a friendly like England Spain in 2011 where we won and nobody gave a toss. Of the 6 world cup's on offer NZ have only won 2 and they were bith at home. Most people would still say NZ have been the best temam in the world for the majority of the last 26 years though. Crickets the same - you donl' need a world cup to make a test match against Aus, india, SA or whoever happens to be the big team at the time special.
It's a toughie. It would be a bit of fun, not the real deal. Give it a go. Ranking is the indicator of who's best but then that's not perfect, look how no. 2 England thumped No.1 India then did it at their place. All the time the real no. 1 was probably SA.
That's completely irrelevant, in most sports the so called underdog can win. Like in football QPR can beat Chelsea at Stamford bridge like they did, but that doesn't mean to say QPR and Chelsea are going to play each other 10+ times just to prove Chelsea are better. This nonsense about playing 1 team over and over again is just that, complete and utter nonsense. Cricket as a sport isn't a bad sport, but it is being made incredibly boring by the structure of the game. I really do not want to see England play India for the 10th time in so many months. Id also scrap test match cricket, what a pointless game that is. Who wants to see Batsmen refusing to take on any shots for 5 days. Cricket should be about giving the ball a good old smack. Nobody wants to see negative and boring play, yet test cricket encourages it. The crowd want to see as many 6s as possible, 20/20 is the way forward for cricket.
Full house signs in Australia, South Africa and Engalnd would suggest you're talking ourt of your rectum. Still, that's par for the course with you.
