So his theories and principles on relativity, equivalence and adiabatic invariance are "pretty well irrelevant"? Very good ER, very good. Have a nice cup of tea and a biscuit old fella.
Einstein said QPR would win the FA Cup in 2013 - got that one wrong didn't he....... Oh actually that was Skinmanbok but he thinks he's einstein so it's the same thing really
The one thing I don't understand with cricket is the way 2 teams can't just play 1 game against each other and move on to another team. Instead if England for example play another country they have to have 10+ consecutive matches, in all different forms of the game. That to me is incredibly boring, it's like these countries can't afford the air fairs so they have to fit in 4 years worth of fixtures in just a couple months
It's called a tour. And presumably you've never heard of the one day and 20/20 world cups? You couldn't have a test world cup as the logistics would be too difficult - and the whole point of a test series is to show exactly who the best team is - something that can't be achieved with one game. The fact that grounds sell out for at least three touring teams in this country in all 3 forms of the game would say that there's not a lot wrong with the current format
True, but the domestic game feela like it is on its arse. The county championship by its nature isn't going to get bums on seats. The cb40 get a few and twenty20 games seem to do rather well. I wonder for the strength of the game as a whole whether the County Championship could be revamped. It might be a phase or it might be my perception but rarely does any **** set his stall out to bd at the crease for a day and a half any more. Loads more results tham there used to be. That could be the pitches too of course.
I think we could have a test cricket world cup: two groups of 4 and the winners play the final. You could do that in a month.
Draws? Unworkable imo. Play it over 3 years with a 5 test series to finish in England. There are enough ex pats from the test playing nations in England to mean that even if the english never made the finals it would still be well attended. Just throwing it out there.
It would be better - even if the group satges were to yield results (unlikely of course) it wouldn't really prove anything as one off tests can go either way. I went to Australia pakisatn at lords and it was reasonably well attended so a world cup final between 2 other countries would be ok. That said you could play it in the WIndies, South Africa or Australia and probably get big crowds becasue people would travel.
Would they? If Pakistan were to play NZ in the west indies it would look awful I reckon. Even accounting for a home crowd that would go out of interest. Mind you, that world t20 thing for clubs out there had one man and a dog. There has to be some idea that would work that doesn't **** up everyones calendar. ****ed if I can think of it.
You can have draws just as in football, hopefully not too many. The groups in the event of teams on equal points could be decided on total runs scored. If the final ends in a draw then on net run rate - would provide an incentive to get a move on. I know it's not perfect but what competition is? Was also thinking 4 days of 100 overs rather than 5 of 90 to speed up proceedings.
trust you to find one which wouldnlt be popular I don't see the point anyway. We know who the best ranked test teams are and we regulalrly see the top teams play each other - but it wouldn't matter to me if they didn't. The Ashes has been a bit ****ed by having back to back series (though who knows - they could be absolutely brilliant) but that will get back to normal for the future. I donlt see the need to fulfill the current desire of cionstantly needing to prove who's the best in the world at any guven time through them p[laying each other to be hinest.
Encouraging teams to get a move on isnt test cricket then. I am not criticising any ideas, just thinking that you have to please everyone. Especially the MCC types.
You know what, that is probably right. If they want to throw more focus on number one status then go ahead and do it that way. Series' take on a life and meaning of their own anyway. The ashes doesn't have to be between 1-2 in the world to mean something.
No Cricket in blue Pyjamas Those guys are ace. They hate change. Cricket changed in spite of them. I bet they take in a sneaky t20 game every now and again. They shake their heads and pretend they are not enjoying it.
I'd like to see it given a try, I'll leave the ICC to the exact details. Would be interesting. As regards drawn tests: we've all seen Monty keeping out the Aussies for a few balls to save a test that had it had another couple of hours to go, Aus would have won without a doubt. That's the beauty of test cricket - where a draw is celebrated like a win. A test cricket world cup would simply need to devise a way to call a win in the event of a draw in the final. Net run rate seems ideal as it would barely affect the game but just give the slightest pressure to a batting side to score quicker or affect when a declaration is made. That said, cricket is all about the game on the pitch, infinite possibilities on the day.
