It was a good post JoKer (and I never thought I'd ever write that!!) and I think we're seeing grown ups on the forum having some decent conversations while at the same time maintaining our anti-rival feelings - so we can still give the opposition some stick while recognising their success and ability.
Unfortunatley the grown ups are still outnumbered by the immature and the haters and I think when people deal with them it sometimes escalates, it's a pity really because good threads go bad way too often.
I think this weekend was a potenial banana skin for both clubs (Sunderland's was a bigger banana skin for sure) with the NE teams coming off some hard games and well-earned victories... playing in front of smaller numbers than in the league it must have been especially difficult to get their heads in the game.
I thought we looked very lethargic in the first half and from what I read Newcastle had a fairly poor first half display too... in the second half last night I thought we never really got out of second gear so it was comfortable but unexciting. It's the sort of game we would have blown in the past. From what I read Newcastle were saved from a replay by a piece of individual brilliance late in stoppage time.
Which leads both to next round games against lesser opposition and more potential banana skins but which both clubs must be fairly happy about I would think; I'm certainly happy to have the Smoggies because I think it has the potential to be a cracking cup-tie.
I would say good luck but you would all know I didn't mean it
