I agree. At least partly true. So much that needs addressing, that probably only new inspired ownership could sort. BUT the fact is we have never really had a proper anthem (never mind 2 or 3 like many do). That Hibs video is brilliant. Can you imagine if that was us? Many other English clubs have similar, although the Scots typically seem to do it even better. I know many were / are up in arms about the North Stand move, but I really hoped that it would be the start of a major improvement. Yes, the move was flawed and maybe poorly executed, but still. I hoped the talk about the new 'Ulltras' would also be the start of something. But nothing has come of either. Things are as bad, if not worse than they've ever been. Lots and lots of reasons (prices, OTT stewarding, disengagement, and so on). And it's nothing to do with Hull being reserved or whatever; we only have to look at our RL teams who have their own anthems and sing them with pride. But we need at least one, if not 2 or 3 proper anthems OF OUR OWN. Surely there's some among us that can finally come up with something(s).
Spot on. Sadly, I doubt many lessons have been learned. People will just defend their actions/inactions, or try to reinvent history.
After speaking with people who still attend home games - I obviously do not - the feeling is it's a chore and something they're obliged to do rather than want to. Nobody looks forward to going any more or gets excited about it, and why that is I'm not really sure as the level of football has rarely been better in 112 years.
Good post. I'd like us to sing a part of 'Three day millionaire' by the Watersons. That's not my idea though, it's been suggested on here before.
All RL songs are copied from football. 'Red Red Robin' is copied off CAFC. 'Old Faithful' is original - the exception that proves the rule. The noise/singing at RL is sexed up by the local media by all accounts, as people who actually go complain of the lack of atmosphere Talking of pride, I hear Rovers are adopting Erasure' 'Respect' - why?
They recorded a version for the trip to Wembley (charity single), with Andy Bell and he sang it live at their opening game this season... please log in to view this image
The buggers behind the goal on the right must have been chanting: "The Leith police dismisseth us." and pissed the polis off.
