We should have them for the Wensdee game. Creates a bit of noise. Was terrible for the Brighton game.
Agree - the small huddle of Brighton fans made more noise. We need to do something about filling all the empty seats. Bundle deal for 3 home games or kids for a quid. I find our attendances considering we're top of the league ****ing appalling.
Agreed. Some sort of a deal. Catchy name, whatever, a thousand tickets to a load of squaddies, something. Something. If only we had a thread to discuss this on and take it to the club...
Seriously, any of these things would be so ****ing embarrassing to us. Them happy clapping things are clearly there for the clubs who have morgue like football stadiums. It's just an admittance we're **** fans who can only create noise by artificial means. If we go down this route, we'll be playing recordings of ourselves singing 'wise men say' on the pa system before you can say 'foam hand'. Better we just claim to be football conisuers who prefer to ponder the teams tactics and players individuals performances. Boooo....
I agree 100% Kemps, my post was mischief making - I wish I could see an improvement, but I don't. We get bigger crowds but less atmosphere, the game as we remember it has gone, Maggie Thatcher and the Taylor Report took it ................ now where's my ****in' clapper gone?
Why was the ground seemingly quite full on Tuesday yet we managed less than 18k? I was surprised as it looked a lot more. As for the lack of atmosphere, it was due to it being cold and a crap game. You can't magic an atmosphere out of your arse at every opportunity and you can't create one when the football is a little stale and it's all a bit dull.
I'll stick something up in the morning, but the way the invite's worded, I'm not sure we're going to get much of an opportunity to raise stuff.
I just think that the events of the last few years have turned what could have been something really special....into this.
And ''this'' has slowly turned one disillusioned old ****er into doing away matches only - I need my football mojo back, it may be at Winterton Rangers!
The people who run our club (and I don't just mean the Allams) have little or no idea about football atmosphere, so it's unlikely we're going to see an improvement any time soon. We need sections of unreserved seating, with no officious stewards babysitting the fans, so fans can enjoy the game in a relaxed and informal setting. The mixing of families with 'traditional' fans is a lose-lose. It kills the atmosphere and upsets the kids. The away section should be tucked away in the NW corner out of sight of tv cameras, so that we could have all of the E and most of the N. Hang your heads in shame all those who 'improved' the atmosphere by moving away fans into the NE corner.
The best 10 years of our history, with football more popular then ever, a Cup Final, Europe, 4 promotions......and we get smaller gates than in 2003. Which marketing genius allowed that to happen?
