You're going to have to be a bit more precise when you say it 'doesn't exist.' That's the problem some of the ostriches on here have - "I don't like it therefore it doesn't exist". Are you saying people don't understand or use the word?
Northumberland's name was derived due to the fact it's north of the Humber, but we don't live in it. Agreed we live on the banks of the Humber but that's no reason to say we're from Humberside. The east coast towns bank on the North Sea but they're not from Northseaside!

I don't think anyone maintains we live in Northumberland, do they? We live in a region sometimes referred to as Humberside. FFS, where's the difficulty with that?
