I agree. The difference between our two teams has decreased mainly due to our regression, but IMO Arsenal is still better

Spurs were winning before Ade went off, and were on top. Had he stayed on it would not have ended 5-2.

Gloating over a better goal difference is just ridiculous really. As is saying Arsenal are superior to Spurs. Arsenal beat them because Ade was dismissed, and lost against them with 11 men. Spurs are 7 points ahead currently.

The true test will be where the teams stand at the end of the season, but if Spurs finish above Arsenal then they do so on merit having been the better team over the duration of the whole season.

So this nullifies our loss to City beacuse we were to 10 men. The CL final? Many fixtures we've lost because we've been down to 10 men but you won't see anyone saying it was because of the red card and if theydid they'd getshot downfor blaming the ref, so why is it that the fact that we win because the opponent is down to 10 men made such a big deal?

It's a big deal because you're unfairly comparing teams. Ade deserved to be sent off. I'm not blaming the ref at all. But you can't say that the match is a true test of the strength of the teams compared to each other in a situation like that.

Spurs beat Arsenal 11 v 11 by being the better team. Arsenal beat Spurs because Ade was justifiably sent off.

And it's not an unfair justification to say Arsenal won because of the red? We beat them by 3 goals. If it was 1 goal or maybe an unconvincing 2 goal won then maybe the red card could be blamed. But on that day Arsenal completely dominated Spurs (and yes being down to 10 men does not mean your team will get dominated) except for the shaky first 10 minutes.

So you don't think that the red card was influential, as you dominated the game, apart from the bit before the red card...?

Last season there was a lot of great moments and games.

Henry's winners against Leeds and Sunderland.
The 2-1 win over Broussia Dortmund in the CL and also even that 3-0 win over Milan. Despite in the end going out, we at least went out fighting, so you could be proud of the team.
The wins over City and Chelsea as mentioned in the OP.
Last season's 5-2 win over Spurs was far better than this season's. We ripped them to pieces and they still had 11 men on the pitch. Also at the time, they were in brilliant form.

This season, I only consider the 5-2 win over Spurs a real highlight and something to look back on. So this season really is one to forget, and I doubt the end of season DVD is going to sell well.

Before the red card we were coming back in it and starting to dominate. Wed have beaten you regardless but it'd have been by a lower scoreline

i watched that game and that just isn't true. Spurs were in the ascendency and looking slightly better until Adebayor got sent off.

The reason I remember this so vividly is because I am a Liverpool fan who wanted to see Arsenal win as I thought there was a more realsitic chance of us finishing above Spurs as opposed to Arsenal, so I'm a neutral in this, if not a little biased towards Arsenal if I'm honest. Thats just how I saw the game going until the Red card and was made up when it happened.

Also in that match at 4-2 Defoe had a great chance to make it 4-3 and then you broke and Walcott scored making it 5-2. At least we were going for it.
I think only you and Piskie believe that it would have been 5-2 11 v 11. Considering you at the 2 most bias Arsenal fans on this board it doesn't really count for much.

Spurs were on top until the Red.

In addition, rather than hold back & play damage limitation, Villas-Boas actually changed formation, opened the team up, and tried to get back into the game.

The result was more goals for Arsenal, but at least he played positive and tried to get a result. I respect him for that. Exactly the same thing happened with Arsenal against Man Utd last season, and that finished 8-2.

We're still better than Spurs. It's a close thing now though.

We deserved the win then, the same way Spurs deserved the win on the weekend. As for our season, it has been our worse under Wenger, so not a lot to crow abaout. There has been a couple of positives and that has been Wilshere and Cazorla for me. They have been outstanding and brought back some Wenger magic. Unfortunately, most of our squad does not match up to their level of class.

Piskie - I used to think you were a sensible poster but you are acting like an arrogant pr*ck completely dismissing other people's views when they are clearly right. When your own supporters and neutral fans agree with me it's obvious you and Oxo are wrong.
Yes you have had the bragging rights over the last 20 years. That's why it is so hard for you to take that we are at least your equal now if not better than you.
