Yeah I agree, definitely. But if he pisses off the GC lot he'll hear about it. Syd's quit being Super Mod now, and Mick's on the verge of just bringing someone in to sort out GC, which will hopefully drive away some of the ****s. There's a fine line between banter that gets a bit edgey, and just posting sick things.

BBC Mods wouldnt let this **** happen. Im all for freedom of speech but those ****in trolls need hurt. Banning doesnt seem enough but its a good place to start. No such thing as double standards when it comes to **** like this. Im disappointed in both fellow 606'ers and the Mods. Sickipedia is more suited to such mindless drivel. This is a football forum. GC doesn't need closing. Yes they've been disrespectful ****s, but they're just being vilified now. Most people here will have made or partaken in jokes about Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, etc when they died, although I doubt you'd flout these jokes in the faces of those who cared about them. In my opinion mods just need the power to actually moderate their boards without having to go through Mick, although I wouldn't give permabanning power to most mods, just the ability to temp ban or ban from their board. An infraction system might come in handy too.

As for users complaining about GC; if you don't like GC don't go there. If Mick does make it less accessible that'd probably be a good idea, chuck in a warning page on the way that it may contain offensive material and a disclaimer about the contents. I can understand his problem in finding someone to keep it under control though.

My question to you is why should General chat be like that though, why should it basically be the filth board, this is a football forum, most of them don't know the first thing about football? It actually takes away from other boards as they have to post off-topic posts on them?

you wouldn't need cross board threads if you could post on there without it being hijacked and the thread author being abused the music thread,book,gaming and movie threads could be on there for everyone to look at or add to but this is why we have so many off topic threads on our board they just get hijacked and the abuse begins

 

Deleting GC will never happen. I agree with Cal, just don't go there. I hardly ever do. Making it less accessible (or less obvious) would be the best option, get rid of cross board threads (they're just a pain) and give mods the ability to temp ban from their respective boards.

 

True, I could feel my faith in humanity slipping every second being on General Chat the other day, someone posted a serious thread then one or two posted amputated children and were laughing, this sort of stuff doesn't belong in any section of a football forum!!

 

I dont think it should be deleted but I think it should be alot more moderated, then most of them will **** off, they rely on no moderation to post this ****!!
